Could be a dead USB port or other internal malfunction with the headunit.

Best advice would be to scour Ebay (or a local junkyard) for a used port and see if that solves the problem. Be warned, brand new from Infiniti these USB Jack's are NOT cheap. If the problem persists then options become very limited. And expensive.
