is it possible to interrupt voice prompts?

I've found that the voice prompts for nav and bluetooth are quite verbose on my 2009, is it possible to interrupt the prompts instead of having to listen to the full 10 seconds of instructions every time?

Yes, just press the talk button again and it will allow you to speak/choose w/e command right away.

When I press the talk button again it says "pausing voice recognition"

pressing it a third time says "voice recognition resuming"

Am I missing something?

Maybe 2009 is different from whatever you've got
