Nav System Maps Rant
I've got a 2012 G37x with the Nav system and am seriously irritated by the map data provided. The map version is Nov. 2012 and there are 2 subdivisions in the northwest suburbs of Chicago that I have found that this map version doesn't have in it. One subdivision is where my folks live, they've been there for more than 5 years, the other is one where we are thinking about buying a new home and it has been there for 3 or 4 years. I don't know where Infiniti is getting their map data from for their nav system but to not have any roads for these subdivisions that are that old blows my mind.
Had I known how incomplete these maps were I certainly would have fought for a lower price on that option. I probably would have still gotten the Nav since I wanted the bluetooth music connectivity as well but there is no way Infiniti is getting me to pay for a map update. It would have been cheaper for me to forgo the Nav system and just install an aftermarket head unit with bluetooth. I will be contacting them to see about getting a free update but am not optimistic about my success. I guess I'll be sticking with my garmin.
Rant done.
Thanks.

lol, I've been 'misled' by the Nav many times and it misses neighborhoods/streets that have been around for almost 10 years. I had routes that should take 15 minutes take 45 because I was sent the "wrong way around". I usually have my phone ready as back up in case I get lost. BTW I've never upgraded from my 2010 maps because I wasn't happy.

this is why I dont ever buy the nav package in any new car my wife or i buy
they are always behind a few years and the updates can be expensive.
google maps is very up to date and is free.
I use it 1-2 a week when I travel for work.
