iPhone 4 not charging in my 2009 Infiniti G37xS

Hey guys!
This is my first time posting and I finally got my first Infiniti today! I love it so far. The weird thing is that when I plug my iPhone 4 into it, it says that it won't charge but then the music will still play. Does anyone else have that problem? Thanks!

It merely accesses your library. It is not a charger.

You'll have to purchase a charging adapter in order to charge the battery. Earlier models charge from just the iPod adapter cable, iPhone 4 and later require an adapter to charge. It will still play music, but not charge without the adapter.

Yeah, it is odd because my iPod charges but the iPhone does not.

That will not charge anything from the iPhone 4 and after. You will need a charging adapter like I said. The interface cable alone will allow you to play music but will not charge newer iPhones and iPods. The Cable Jive that PM-Performance mentioned will work to charge the phone.

Okay! I heard that it overheats though :/ is there really no other way?

If you know something we don't, please share it. Maybe you've got some insight or you're aware of something beyond what's been discussed by G owners since the iPhone 4 first came out. There's always new stuff. Maybe we are all just missing it.

You can thank Apple for this little non-charging issue. Every generation or 2 they rearrange the charging pin location in the iPhone/iPod port.
I believe the 2009 G37 iPod/iphone interface cable will charge an iPhone3 and below.
For it to charge an iPhone 4 you will need something like this Scosche iPhone/iPod charging adapter.

Where did you hear this?
I haven't really touched my iPod to be honest. It's just been sitting in my console but I would imagine I would know by know if it was overheating as it would probably crash.
I never unplug it so its always on while the car is on

It does get warm while charging. I don't know if it overheats or not, but it is warm to the touch. So that leaves the options of having a phone with a cool dead battery, or buying a charging adapter and having a warm fully charges one.

I heard on other sites that the adapter heats up sorry. Not the Ipod. Today I tried my iPod touch 2nd gen and iPod touch 4th gen in hoping that it would charge but they don't charge either D: Looks like I'm gonna have to try buying the adapter

I need one too. Need to have ability to Charge on my 09 G37.

Read reviews on Amazon, it's fine! $23. Just get it. If it gets hot, get an Oven Mit. I rarely plug in my iPhone 4S, but now I might start using it.

Good Luck.
