Im researching replacement component speakers and wanted to know what has been used to replace the factory speakers.

I would like to go the 3 way route being that is already available via the original factory design.

I currently have a 12w3 in a sealed box, being fed by an Alpine PDX-V9 which hits great but the balance with the sub and the re-amplified factory fronts is just not there.

I primarily listen to hip hop so the mid bass on the component will have to be able to handle more usage than those that are into Easy Listening which I enjoy from time to time as well but not as often.

Any feedback that you guys have will be appreciated.

 

i have a set of morel elate 9 which fit with a little modification. the midbass is nine inches which you will have to fabricate a bracket for. it also has a 3.5 inch midrange which fits perfectly in the stock location. the tweeter also fits in the stock location. for a good picture of how it looks here's a thread that i've been following Charliekwin's 2007 G35 Sedan build log - DIYMA Car Audio Forum

p.s. you're using the same amp that i have and i've been looking at the 12w3 to replace an older diamond sub that i'm also using in a sealed box. did you think that the 12w6 was overkill for your setup? i really don't know that much about matching components.

 

I matched the RMS of the AMP with the RMS of the Sub, the 12w3 has an RMS of 500w, while the 12w6 has an RMS of 600w. How much did the Morel's cost?

 

i actually bought them from an authorized dealer four years ago for my g35 for $1500. the reason that i got such a good deal because i let them do my install also. every authorized dealer that i've seen lately has them listed over 2 grand but that might be because morel has upgraded the elate series.

 

yeah thats too rich for my blood....

 

Morels are quality though.
