iPhone 5 Compatibility w/ G37
I have a 2009 G37 Convertible with Nav and rear camera.
With my iPhone 4, I was able to use the Infiniti-supplied iPod cable, plus the Scosche adapter to charge, and listen to music from the device at the same time. I could also control the device (play/pause/next ) from my steering wheel, and the music's metadata would display on my Nav screen. It all worked pretty well, all things considered. I did not like how the iPhone's Music app screen would blank out with the "Accessory Connected" screen, but I was able to work around that with a jailbreak tweak, so it wasn't a huge deal.
With my iPhone 5, I have the same Infiniti-supplied iPod cable, plus the same Scosche adapter, as well as the Apple Lightning to 30-pin Adapter (0.2 m)... and it only charges the device. The stereo says "iPod disconnected." If I remove the Scosche adapter from the equation, it sees the iPhone and I can listen to (and control) music... but the device doesn't charge. ARGGGH!
I went to Infiniti to see if they had different iPod/iPhone cables by now (you'd think they'd have one that integrated the Firewire->USB switch, a la the Scosche) but the replacement they gave me acted no differently. The service reps I spoke to really were quite clueless about all of this, which was disappointing to me, considering how popular iPhones are these days. Surely I'm not the first one with this question, hoping to charge and listen to a new iPhone's music in my Infiniti.
Of course I can always use a 3.5mm Headphone to RCA Audio/Video Cable to feed the audio from the iPhone's headphone jack into the AUX input, while still charging it via the Lighting adapter+Scosche+Infiniti cable. But that's a bit unwieldy with all the extra cabling, and I still can't control the device from the steering wheel.
Are there any other companies that make an adapter like the Scosche that may work better here? Or am I S.O.L.?
My lease is up in 6 months and I'm using this experience to help me decide what my next car's going to be. I don't care about MPG or torque or aerodynamics or any of that. I just want a kick-*** dash that has an integrated GPS and the best iPhone integration available today. Sadly my Infiniti 2009 comes close but it rather disappointing with the new iPhone. Heck, this car came with a CompactFlash card (that was outdated the day I drove this car off the lot!) I'm thinking my next car better have a versatile USB port. I just want to charge/listen/control my smartphone, using one wired connection. Is that too much to ask?

BT-AU01 Wireless Bluetooth V2.0 Stereo Receiver Adapter for Car Home Speaker - White - Worldwide Free Shipping - DX
Yes, I saw that mentioned in this thread -- also that some folks have had luck with a second 30 pin to lightning cable, when the first one didn't fully work properly.
So now I have ordered a second 30 pin to lightning cable, as well as the short 30 pin to lightning adapter, and will try them both.
Will report back. I really hope this is the solution.

Hi all, Yeah, same issue with the .3m adapter. Thought I had some weird short in my Scoche adapter, but can't seem to giggle it in any way that makes a difference. Some times it kicks right in, some times not at all, some times it flickers in and out of connection.
Very strange.
Like there's a current issue, and it can only hold on if there's enough "build up" of current or something.

ONLY THE SHORT ADAPTER WORKS! Long one will work but not charge, only one or the other.
I went through (3) Long wire adapters than read only short works, better to just save the $10 and get the short one.
But the Delay is there, it had to trickle in for it to work, Car doesnt recognize the iPhone 5 for 30-60 seconds, but will
Charge right away.
Bottom line the long ones are always in stock and $10 more but only short ones work properly, wait for the short ones to come in stock, dont waste your money on the long one
Get the short adapter it will charge and work with iPod integration, but for me it has a delay.

Make sure u did a hard reset on the phone to make sure it's not the phone. Hold down power and home buttons (ignore "slide to power off") until it shuts off. Then turn on again.
Maybe it is hit or miss with the cables.
Or maybe there are different infiniti software revisions that affect how the car responds?
That's weird man I had a totally different experience...

I am just annoyed it takes a minute to hookup and seems like the system moves slower than it did on my 4S or iPod Classic.
Also holding those two buttons is for restore or DFU MODE, dont do that, just hold the power button until it turns off, which is just a hard restart but not any reset.
Yes! I can confirm the same! I tried two different 0.2m 30-Pin-to-Lightning adapters. With the Scosche adapter I could charge but not play music. And without the Scosche adapter I could play music but not charge.
I just tried the short adapter, and along with the Scosche adapter in the chain, I can now charge and play music at the same time.
Hallelujah! Thanks, all!

Hi all. I'm a bit new to the G, and this forum, but wanted to weigh in with my iPhone 5 experience.
I have been able to use my iPhone 5 on my 2009 (with Nav) using the supplied cable and the Apple adapter. I can access all the playlists and have full functionality on the dash and steering wheel. I just received the in the mail, and now it even charges, and I still have full functionality even with both adapters installed. I haven't tried utilizing Pandora or Spotify yet, so I can't comment on that. I don't see any album artwork.
My bluetooth works well for making and receiving calls, but I haven't been able to download any contacts via bluetooth. Seems that is an issue for others as well. The salesman told me that there would be a software update soon that would correct the issues with iPhone connectivity. Granted, this was coming from a car salesman, but I had already signed the papers and was just about to drive my car off the lot, so take it as you will.
