Bought Navigation Update for my 2009 Dealer Has to Install

Got it for $99 ($50 off through June 30, 2012), $107 With Tax. They send you a code.

Then, yougo to your dealer and bend over and let them install it for $109. You don't have a choice if you have a Hard Drive, they MUST DO it for you.

Mine was missing roads and was over 3 yeasrs out fo date, so I said what the heck. Also has more POI. I haven't actually used my NAv more than 3-4 times as I just got the car.

I'm in the "NEW Car Buy a Bunch of $#@! Mode" right now, so I am going overboard lately. Already did Aluminum pedals, bought used OEM 19" Coupe Wheels that I am having 100% refinshied new in Hyper Silver, Ordered matching 19" Michalin Super Sport Tires, Interior, Trunk, Licence Plate, Rear Back up LED's on the Way, Getting 7 speed tranny reprogrammed Friday, SO I bought the NAV so i can get it over with at the same time.

should have just gotten a Garmin with lifetime map updates for that price. yes, it's not integrated nicely in your dash, but it works better than the factory nav and you can move it from car to car. just my opinion.

I already have a NAV (Magellan) Yes, works better, BUT I wanted a NAV. Would NOT get this car without it. In sales and drive around alot. I didnt want cords and stuff attached to my window, been there done it.

I want avaliable all the time and a nice clean look. I hope the update helps. So far, it has gotten me where i need to go.

So you buy the code then have to pay the dealer another $100 to install it?

updated map. so if there are any new roads or highways since the old map, they will show up. also new POI means new restaurants, etc...should be available.

Yep, again since I am going this FRIDAY, and today is Wednesday, can't comment.

I just figured mine is a 99, 2012 is 3+ years and I live in texas and new roads open all the time, plus we have lots of country roads etc. My Nav is decent so far, BUT, only had car less than a month so don't know. For $99 I said WTH.

I'm about to make a cross country road trip, so im thinking updating the maps in my 09 is probably a good idea... Unfortunately for me, me and the local dealer dont see eye to eye often so i try to avoid them, but my local nissan dealer said they should be able to do it. hopefully so...

Didn't finsih Car by end of day (5PM) when I showed up, had to go home so I'm in the 2012 Loaner Car (that I have been absolutely abusing in everyway possible LOL (in a good way, basically just Mashing the gas to the floor every time I have a chance and manually shifting ocasionally a little more aggressively than I would dare to to my car).....

The dealer I go to is super BIG and Busy! Hundreds of Cars there in a day (Dallas). I will pick it up tomorrow ALONG with my 7 speed Tranny Re Program....................

Picked it up today, have YET to actually try to run a route with it. It says 2011-2012 Maps under Version. Who knows if it's better?

it wouldn't find an address of a buddy's house that we played poker at last week, so I am going to try to input the address to d see if it finds it this time.

Overall, the NAV is not that great, but I have only used it a few times. One thing is when you drive and have it zoomed in, it is hard to see what streets come next.

My $250 Magellan works way better, but I wanted the clean look and convenience of it always being ready to go.

Definitely want the NAV HACK! I have not being able to access it while driving. Not to be unsafe, but I mean sometimes it is just very inconvenient.

I am searvhing navigation now in the forums to see if I can learn any tricks or tips. I am very new at the Infiniti NAV, so don't have much user time so far.

Thanks

Gary

I don't know how it could be inconvenient, I don't have to touch my phone to start/stop/manage the routes. That in and of itself is very convenient. Also don't need a cell signal, like you do with cell phone apps. (Yes, there are places I go that don't have cell service.)
