check surroundings for safety?

hi everybody,

every once in a while, the nav screen will pop up an image that says "check surroundings for safety" and there's an animated image of the car, viewed from above.

when/why/how does this screen come up? it seems to just come up randomly. i'm not sure what i'm doing to make it happen.

also, on the image, it shows the car having proximity zones in the front. but we don't have proximity sensors on the front, do we?

i have a 2010 sport convertible with nav.

I don't have the Tech package, so I can't speak from experience. But I think that appears when the sensors think there is something in proximity of the front/rear. If nothing is there, possibly something is on the sensor giving a false reading, or possibly the sensor is going out?

I get the same thing, comes on randomly after backing up and putting in park, shows up for a split second then disappears. Odd one.
