Music Issues!

Hey guys,

I have 2 issues that bother me big time.

1. My iPod would be playing and randomly disconnect and say iPod not connected meanwhile IT IS connected. Happened a couple of times while i was driving and listening to it but most of the times it happens when i turn on my car.

2. Speakers from passenger side and dashboard crack a lot, feels like the are blown but it doesn't happen all the time. Sometime when i play a song it is really noticeable but then a day later i play the same song and it doesn't even happen.

Please advise on what to do. I have been to infiniti already twice regarding the iPod issue but of course every time i am there it doesn't happen. So now i've book an appointment of monday to get this stuff fixed but I'm afraid they might say nothing is wrong again since it NEVER happens when I'm at the dealer!

Thanks guys

First, it would be at least mildly useful if you would include year and model in your post, as the connection method has changed over the years. I have an 08, which uses a special Infiniti-specific interconnect cable to attach the ipod, new models use a USB cable. The problem sounds like an intermittent short, either in the cable or the connector. (It sounds like an intermittent short to the speakers also.) Easiest thing for the ipod is to first plug in a different ipod and see if it still does it. If yes, then change out the cable. Still does it? Then the problem is in the interior wiring. For the speakers, you'll have to check the connections one-by-one from the wiring harness to the speakers and find the loose connection.
good luck. wiring issues are notoriously difficult to troubleshoot, especially if you're new at it.

I'm quite sure the first problem (ipod disconnected) is a known issue when starting the cars (2008 here) mine will say that every time I turn it on, all you have to do is press AUX again and you will be in business.

Second issue does seem like a wiring issue to me as well, trace back the wires is all you can do.

I have a problem with the AUX. It is not as loud as the CDs and the radio. Anyone else have this problem? I used 2 different wires both give me the same sound

It is a 2008 g37s coupe. They already replaced my cable for the iPod which didn't help. and I have tried clicking on AUX and then back to disk/ipod and does not resolve the issue. I have to physically unplug iPod, play song and plug it back in
