Thumbs down XM Radio, You Are A Ripoff!

So I called XM to see what I was looking at to renew my service after the free trial is gong to expire on my sedan, I remember with my previous coupe I was paying approx. $160 for the radio and nav traffic. However for this sedan, with the prices going up and new features like the weather forecast, I was looking at $306 for a year (traffic, weather and radio). I mean, this is just ridiculous, any one else find this price absurd?

I wholeheartedly concur. Worst business model ever. I'm surprised they're still around this long. Hopefully someone in the media business will come along very soon and blow them out if the water with better product and service.

Yup...If they are going to survive and stay alive with our smartphones interfacing with the car, they need to evolve...Always threaten to cancel via the phone. They will send you to the retention department. Once talking to someone in retention, they will offer you other unpublished deals to convince you to stay. You must be ready to cancel if they don't do this...usually there is a $25 for 5 months or a $89 per year for just XM music..and no break on traffic or weather which is a bigger rip off. To me, it should all be in the one package and the whole thing at a $50 - $100 price point..but they didn't ask me and now I don't care if they go out a business. May be one day there will be competition compatible with XM and we will have choices and better prices.

I paid 89 for a year. While I would not pay a dime more than this, I really HATE commercials on normal radio stations. I 100% understand that I could use my iPhone for music, but frankly I have been really lazy about putting new music on it so XM is convenient.

I completely agree that the prices are getting ridiculous...
I work for Acura and deal with it from customers all the time and can relate because of the two cars i already have with it...
I tell everyone to threaten to cancel (must be ready to do so if they won't negotiate) and they will usually try to get u on some unheard of our unlisted special...
My boss did the same thing a couple months ago and kept telling him that he didn't need this, didn't need that, not sure if it's really worth keeping, and didn't notice that many good sports stations...
20min later they gave him like another 8-9 months to "make up his mind" for like $30 or so Lol

Their used to be a site online that would tell u exactly what to say about some special coupon that u got that they wouldn't ask any questions or try to collect anything from u for extended trials, but they caught on to that about a year ago

I let mine expire and they keep sending me emails to renew for $25 for 6 months. Do not pay more than that.

I just called up and cancelled my 5 months for $25. I'll wait a week or so and wait to get the letter in that offers another 5 months for $25. Re-up the cancel again...then repeat. I refuse to pay more than that for something that cuts out all the time and for the same sh!tty programming.

I agree thugh, they need to get with the times

MP3 quality. Data compression is horrid, as is dynamic compression.

I do it too.
Bluetooth audio on the Nav system. It works on my 2010, not sure about prior years.

Same here ... I been paying $25 for 6 months for the last 3 years!

No problems to report here.. been a customer with them since 2007. Great quality radio anywhere you go with few commercials.

My mp3 (320kbps) sounds better than XM quality...but I do like the variety on XM.
