Leaving Ipod connected, will drain battery?

so after taking my g37 journey coupe serviced for all of the battery issues, the battery dies again and Infiniti dealership tells me that the reason is because if you leave the Ipod connected while the car is turned off, it will drain the battery. Has anybody heard this before or experienced it?

I leave mine connected, but not for long periods of time. A couple of hours tops while I'm in a store or something like that. Never had that problem.

Never experienced a problem and I leave mine connected all the time...sometimes it sits for several days to a week.
I don't believe there is any power to that connection when the car is off...

No power runs through the USB when the car is off. My old iPhone 3G has been relegated to iPod duties in the G so it stays in there, connected 24/7. The car has sat for 3 weeks without being driven which I was away for work, and the car fired right up when I arrived home.

Bought mine is Oct 2007 and only take my Ipod out of the car for the gym, otherwise it's attached in the center console all year round.

yea i think infiniti is running out of ideas about whats wrong with my car. that would be rediculous if u had to unplug the ipod everytime u turn off the car.

Baloney. Since the day I brought my 2010 home brand new from the dealer, my iPod has been connected. Never any problems. They are trying to take the easy way out.

Sounds to me like a bad ground connection from the factory.

The USB turns off, there is no way in hell an Ipod will drain your battery.

Opps I see where someone else said that before me but you get the point.

Everyone here is right - for one there is no power to that connection when the car is off. And for another it's ridiculous to suggest that the tiny battery in the iPod could drain the car's beefy battery.

battery discharge

That's an interesting issue... I had my car charger for my phone connnected even with the car off and just recently over the lsat two weeks my battery twice in two weeks.

I noticed the charger cable was slightly exposed but not sure if that was the problem.

Either way I TOOK it into the dealership they said there was a bulletin on the 2009 journey battery problems and they swapped it out and i DIDN'T have to pay...

One of the tow truck guys told me the factory battery instaleld is cheap and not very good.

No issues with mine connected to the ipod interface cable in my 09. Charge stops when the car is turned off. I never take my ipod out or unplug it and my battery has been going strong for 3 years.

I have a 2009 with a battery that would die if the car sat for more than 3 days(with iPod connected). I also got a different battery through TSB and have been fine ever since.

The only problem I have had by leaving my Ipod connected, is that fact that my Ipod drains itself more. I have a I pod touch which I use only when Im driving. So its not regularly used; so I notice the difference by when I use to unplug it after I get out the car.
