G37 2011 - How to 'Shuffle Play' an Ipod Playlist

I simply want to 'Shuffle Play' the songs in an iPod Playlist while connected to my G37 2011.

This is the list of steps I'm trying now:

1) Set iPod to 'Shuffle Songs' in the Nav Menu.
2) Select first song in the Playlist so that it starts playing.

Most Important Step:

3a) 1st song ends and iPod randomly plays another song in that same playlist.
3b) Or just as good, I hit the forward advance on the steering wheel and the iPod randomly plays another song in that same playlist

Seem simple enough, but NOPE, either way, it just plays a random song from the entire iPod collection.

I've read various things about setting things on the iPod itself, but none of it has been very consistent. What step am I missing?

I have an iPod Classic (5th gen).

I would the controls on the NAVI to control my iPhone. So.

1) Select the playlist you want
2) Select the song you want to hear first
3) press the REPEAT button on the dash to change to SHUFFLE TRK/NO REPEAT
4) Bob's your uncle.
