Why not purchase the software and then do the update yourself? Is this something that has to be done at the dealer? Does the the software come with instructions how to apply the update?

I *think* about 2010 the G went from HDD-based to DVD-based for updating. I could be completely wrong but I think that the DVD-based update could be done with just the disc while the HDD-based is done at the dealership.

All the verts with nav have hard drive nav and can only be updated by dealer once you buy nav update code from Navteq. Dealer charge any where from $70 to $150 for update.

This is what is pissing me off right now. I have the '11 Sedan and the damn Nav doesn't have some neighborhoods that have been around for 4-5 years, while my 3 year old Garmin, which I have never updated, has them.

Bastids.

very unusual, may be those neighborhoods did not allow Navteq to scan them

This is why Navi in cars is a rip off. For $2,000 most of us got an out of date system. I don't need to update the Navi, it gets me where i need to go.

I just got another letter from Infiniti with an offer for the Nav update - this time only $99 for the maps (a $50 savings).

So far 2 letters & 2 emails - The marketing is relentless...

Yes... aren't they... the installation charge ($70-$139) by the Dealer is what kills the deal...

Hey guys sorry to revive an old thread but I was wondering if anyone watched the dealer install this update? I'm curious because I have my Uprev tune installed and I'm wondering if I should remove it while they do this update so they don't delete my tune, I'm not sure if they even go anywhere near the ECU though so I was hoping maybe you guys could offer some insight

The Nav update will not affect ecu. If you have a 2010 or new model, then the update is done at home and the dvd's sent to you straight.
