Radar Detector STI-R PLus with blue display

Hey. Here is my next project. I just got the recently released (Beginning of march) STI-r Plus NA. This has band segmetation which is nice and also GPS. I have an STI driver but with the convertible I leave the top down all the time while going into stores I dont want someone to be able to snag it. SO the suv is getting the STI driver and going to custom install this bad boy. I'm going to install the display module into the rear view mirror. The display and control module are usually red but I got the leds switch to blue so it would match the interior better.

They do work. I've had my sti Driver which is a window mount for a few years and has worked wonderfully. The only thing it wont save your butt on is laser, UNLESS you have a laser shifter as well.

Lol most cops now use laser, not radar. It's much harder to detect early and even harder to evade. Good laser detectors/jammers are pricey and technically illegal to operate (not own ) but yeah a radar detector definitely works, but not if they are using laser

There are 2 main instruments that cops use to get your speed. Radar which takes time to get your speed (Ka most popular then K and old x band). A few secs. Which is time for you to slow down . And laser. WHen you get hit with the laser your speed is instantly red on the gun. The only way to defend yourself is laser shifters (or called jammers) but are illegal in some states.

Radar detectors are not illegal but in 2 states one which is I think actually D.C.

Most cops still have radar. A small percentage have Laser. Its usually highway patrol and not city cops.

Laser jammers are illegal to operate in every state, however owning them is not illegal. So the get around most use is just turning them off at appropriate times.

Radar detectors are legal in almost all states, VA and DC being the two radar detectors are illegal in.

More cops use laser than you would think, but you are right that a larger majority of laser users are state and highway cops.

Ohhh ok I see. I was talking to a friend who is a sheriff and he was saying that by the time the detector goes off, that they have already locked in your speed.

Not necessarily. If you bought your detector at WalMart, probably true. But if you actually have a quality detector, you will have seconds of time to slow down. When my detector goes off I usually have 3-4 seconds before I even see the police officer (sometime more) which is plenty of time to slow down

I could care less if they are legal or illegal it makes no difference to me. Although I'm not to sure about the accuracy of that link, but if that's true then good for all the laser jammer users.

My sti driver cost 500 dollars. I also got an 80 dollar detector just to test out. The range on the STi i could detect the cop around corners and hills. THis is radar mind you. The 80 dollar dtector only work with line of sight. You get what you pay for as well in detectors.

Yoru friends saying if the detector has goign off is too late then he's probably talking about laser. This can be adverted with laser shifters

Again. Cops with radar takes a few seconds to lock so its not so true esp for the good detectors.

Sorry bud. Just clearing up a quote you said "Laser jammers are illegal to operate in every state" . which is untrue.
