Problem with sub install

Ok so I got everything hooked up, tapped into wires 23, 24, 25, and 26 and wired them to RCAs for amp inputs, and wire 20 for the remote. It worked fine until I started driving, then the sub started cutting out. Then it just stopped altogether (along with the rear deck speakers). When I remove one of the RCAs from the amp (doesnt matter which one) it starts working again.

I left it with one unplugged and I guess it doesnt really matter since the sub plays mono anyway, but any ideas why this would happen?

Other members have said that the remote turn on (for the Bose amps) are only 10v (not 12v). I don't remember if pin 20 is that 10v remote turn on...but you might want to check that.

If your amp doesn't accept low level inputs or balanced inputs, then that might be your problem too...

What equipment are you using?

Its a JL Audio 10w6 and 500/1

I know this is a common setup on these forums and the amp is definitely on. It works fine with only one of the RCA cables plugged in, just not both.

Make sure you have signal sense off? Also make sure you have HI or LOW selected correctly?

From re-reading your OP, it sounds like it's possible you have a short in the RCA(s). Did you solder speaker wire into RCAs or did you just cut off existing ones?

I used this

JL Audio Mobile - XB-CLRAIC2-SW

and connected it to wires 23, 24, 25, and 26 using crimp connectors with heat shrink. This is where I figured the problem must be, the only thing I dont understand is why does it work as long as its only one side plugged in, it doesnt matter if its left or right, as long as its not both.

Thats interesting. I'd tear it down and solder the connections. Crimp connectors are okay, but the wires going into the bose amp are very tiny gauge.
