ETA on navigation

Hey guys! I just made a trip to North Carolina for New Years, it was definately a fun drive with the G.

I was a little confused by the ETA on the navigation. I mean when I left ATL it said 4 hours and 23 mins ETA. I thought it would be quicker, but didnt think much of it. When I got about 60 miles away it said an hour and 40 mins to go. I was driving at 80mph. This did not make any sense... It did not fix the ETA until maybe 5 miles from the destination. How does the navigation determine the ETA. How often does it update it? I looked in the manual, sorry I didnt see anything about this...

The navi uses a user defined speed on each type of road. I think it defaults to 55 on freeways so if you plan on driving 80mph, you may want to change that number so it will be more accurate. See the 09 navi manual page 5-23.
