Compact Flash

Hey guys! I should be getting my G37xS by the end of next week. I wanted to order a compact flash soon so that I can have it by the time my car comes in. Can someone please tell me what time of memory card I need? Any good websites to get them from? How much memory should the card be able to hold?

Another thing, I have a Ipod Nano, what cable do I need to get to hook it up to my car?

Sorry, I am really not tech savy at all

Any help would be great! Thanks!

consensus on here is 4 GB. Limitations...sigh....only 512 songs

your car should come with ipod interface cable.

I getting my G37xS at the end of the week too! RED / Graphite

perfect, then I wont worry about a compact flash until I try out the ipod in my car. Hopefully the dealership sends the cable, since I am getting the car from out of state on a truck!

Mine will be Platinum Graphite/Graphite. Cant wait to get her!

There is also a replacement cable if you have a 4th genereation iPod. Dealer should be able to assist with that. The compact flash is useless IMO since you can have a 32G iPod hooked up. Enjoy the car when you get it.

Another problem is the damn storage bin is so small you cant even fit a cd case in there.

The adapter is called a SCOSCHE. It will charge iPods, iPod touch and iPhones. I have them in both cars and they work great. Go to www.scosche.com for more info.

I read off the maxima forums that iPod touches and phones will charge with the 3.0 software.

@gaddmit, probably if you have the latest software you iPod will charge. oh and you won't really need the compact flash as it's main purpose is to serve as a port for the dealership to update the Navigation System, that is if you're getting one.

So on another thread, it was discussed that the 2010 model has USB interface instead of compact flash. I'm wonder why USB is any better ?

Just because it's more common, cheaper media ect..?

Doesn't seem like a big difference or am I missing some other advantage to USB.

I think the USB overall is a lot more versatile than the compact flash. I have never used a compact flash until getting this car -- I used USB flash drives and the different variations of SD cards.

Plus, I think a USB flash drive will present less issues than the compact flash.
For instance, I bought a card reader for my compact flash and after using it once, it's not working properly anymore. I never had such an issue with the USB port!

Whoever passed the idea of using compact flash to begin with at Infiniti should be fired.

compact flash is good, but usb would be even better. i had similar experience as Kwang, after some time when the music was kinda filtered and lot of songs sorted the card just crashed and proposed to format itself again.
and the only things i can wish added to the usb-compatibility - the "delete" and "copy to the hdd" function. that would make the whole bose stereo - worth it...

The CF interface blows - who has music on a CF card? And, why cant you upload to the HD with this source and not the CD slot exclusively. Big FAIL

I'm guessing it is so you can not easily copy "stolen" music onto the system. Seems to be the sign of the times. I don't think you can even copy MP3s off of a CD.

Just get an iPod, it is very simple and cheap. If it is a gen 3 then you will need the Scosche adapter to charge it. (all gens will play music). You can pick up a used nano gen 1-2 on craigslist for 20-40 dollars and put 1000+ songs on it.
