IPOD Video Noise

I have the latest generation IPOD 160 gb video IPOD. I purchased the special IPOD cable that plugs into the bottom and has a set of A/V cables as well as a USB connector. This cable is required for the new IPOD's to enable the video out. I also bought a cigarette lighter to USB adaptorI tried using it today in my G37xS to play video to the screen while parked with the brake on. Video works fine but if I plug the USB into the cig adaptor and plug it in for power (In case the ipod is low on power), video has horrible noise lines. This is with or without the car running. When I unplug the USB cable the video is fine. Any ideas or thoughts on what is causing the noise? Thanks for your help. I love this forum.

I had the same problem but using a 5th Gen with the RCA cables from the top. It drove me nuts for months. If I did not charge the IPOD while the video played the noise disappeared but it discharged the battery in a few minutes. I then found that if you pull the yellow plug out slightly from the yellow input in the center consol so that it does not ground the noise disappeared. The problem with that though was that the picture deteriorates slightly. I finally bought a "new" 5th Gen off ebay just for Video and it turns out that the battery lasts much longer on the "new" one. So now I just unplug the battery charger while I am watching the Ipod and plug it back in when I am listening to something else. That doesn't really solve the problem but I finally gave up trying.
