Any ideas on radar mount problem?

I have this Escort 9500i and just got a mount that attaches to the mirror. The thing however picks up LASER signal from the dash board. Has anyone managed to solve this issue or have a better alternative?
I don't like the way it looks when stuck on the windshield, another thing is that can never adjust the radar at 90 degree because the windshield's angle.

i have my whole system hard wired in as i have the ZR3 laser shifter package also with my passport. i mounted the detector just to the left of the mirror all the to the top of the windsheild. so its almost out of view for everyone else but in perfect view of you driving. i have pics but they are on my house comp.

sometimes mine picks up laser, mostly when it falls from the windshield lol. Does yours constantly give a laser reading? Also I mount mine under the tint strip against the side of the rear view mirror (drivers side.) To get the 90 degree angle just bend the suction cup bracket thing.....

I have a valentine which is set off by the middle of the dash when mounted too low. It is totaly fine when I mount it higher on the window.

Is this just on cars with the laser cruise control gimmick?

Yeah, its weird tho. During the day it is fine, at night, it picks up the laser signal and goes bananas! When i put it on the shield, it is fine but on the mount under the mirror..... no success

No my car does not have it, but my detector will [pick up a laser alert if placed infront of the nav screen.. I have the 8500.. I have mine mounted about two inches up from the bottom of the windshield and I never have any troubles. Keep your detectors low! It will aid in picking up laser signals from actual police officers.. The higher you put it, the less effective it is against laser but more effective against radar.. As low as mine is, on open flat roads i can sometimes get aprx. 1/2 mile warning on FHP's hiding using KA band radar.

THIS IS A POSSIBLE FIX (worked on mine)

My radar Escort 9500i is mounted right under the mirror on the mirror itself.

Before: I start the car and the laser alert goes off and does not stop.

Now: I start the car the laser alert goes off. I pull the power plug from the radar unit -> wait a second or two-> and plug it in again. It should not detect the laser anymore.

It works perfectly on mine.

Use to have this problem, its the LCD screen on the Nav that causes the false alerts. The solution for the 9500i was to use a small piece of electrical tape to block just the bottom side of the laser detector lense. I have mine mounted on the mirror. Here's a picture of the mod. Another user solved it by modifying the MikeMount but this seems easier.

Believe it or not, I just found out that this was the problem and used isolation black tape. I was just getting ready to post the fix. I never found the post you pointed out. It would have saved me so much time and effort.

Thanx tho, that's the way to do it!!!
