Help CD Playback and Handsfree Phone Problem
Hi,
I have noticed a strange behavior with the functioning of the handsfree phone system on my coupe.
Basically if I'm playing a CD, whether a normal CD or MP3/WMA CD, and I switch over to the phone, either a call comes in or I make a call, the playback does not stop and when I finish the call the CD is further into the playback.
This is pretty annoying specially when listening to an audio book.
I tested this on my '06 FX35 and it doesn't behave the same way, it pauses the playback while using the phone.
Anyone else seen this behavior? I called Infiniti and they had never heard about it.
TIA.

The only problems I've noticed is a slight delay between pressing "Answer" and the radio cutting out. However, it was not always like this so I'm going to assume, along with the ld echo issues, this has to do entirely with the iPhone firmware and not my G.
I did a couple of tests where I was listening to an audiobook and I answered a couple of calls and once on the phone for about 10 minutes each. After I would hang up, the CD was 10 minutes further into the playback. On my FX, it would at the exact spot I left it at.
Same phone in both cases, HTC Touch Cruise (Windows Mobile 6.1)
I might try with a different phone and see if I see the same behavior but I don't think that's the problem because the audio system realizes that it is switching over to the phone.
TIA

This happens to me too with my iPhone (via bluetooth) when I'm playing something on my iPod (via the ipod interface). I think the issue is that it just doesn't send a pause signal to the iPod (or CD player) when a call comes in.
If I am playing music via my iPhone (so it is connected to the iPod interface) and a call comes in, it pauses the music -- but this is a function of the iPhone itself. The Infiniti system doesn't send the pause signal in this case.
I'm not aware of any kind of fix, it seems this is just another instance where the engineers and designers clearly never drove or used the car before they sent it to production. *sigh*

Just got a call from Infiniti.
The customer service rep told me that the engineers told her that starting with the new audio system (not the ones from the '06 FX, etc.) they changed the programming so that it only mutes the CD (or I guess iPod, haven't tried that) playback as opposed to the old behavior where it actually paused it.
This is a really bad design decission
, in my humble opinion. Not sure what the benefits might be or if it was just a way of optimizing some software. I am a software engineer myself and don't see any benefit of doing this.
I asked her if they could attempt to fix it and she said that it could not be done but that it would be logged as some type of "vehicle dissatisfaction" and possibly be addressed in a future model.
This goes along the lines of removing the outside temperature from the main display. Now they've burried it in the driver info screen under the speedo where before it was easily, and always, visible in the main screen.

I agree totally....I hate that my IPod keeps going while I'm on the phone. I had an 06 G35 and the CD Player would always pause. This goes along with the stupid window lock switch. Why does Infiniti think when I press the lock button to keep my kids in the back from rolling their windows down, that I "the driver" can't roll them up or down either without unlocking them. I've had several other makes of cars with the window lock feature and none of them behaved this way.

That's absurd!
