Installing a PS2/PS3 in the G37 (non-nav)

Need some quick advice. Bought a DC converter thing for my cigarette lighter, plugged in the PS2 to it as well as the AV inputs. I'm getting sound through my speakers for the PS2 start up...but no video. The display screen just says, "Video will resume when car is stopped"...well I'm installing it with the car in park, so? Sorry this is brief, I just wanted to know if you guys had a quick solution or ideas as to why the audio portion would be working but NOT the video portion. Thanks in advance.

the car will not allow video to be displayed while in motion for obvious reasons.

while the gear shift is in PARK and the PARKING BRAKE is applied, the video will work.

Hopefully not a stupid question, but do you also have the emergency/parking brake engaged? If not, that may be your problem. Car must be in Park WITH the E-brake engaged to watch video. Also double-check your AV cable cord inputs to make sure colors are matched correctly. Hope this helps.

I'm gonna try the parking brake when I get out of class in about an hour. Is there a way around the "Cannot display video in motion" for non-navigation cars?

That mod is "the topic of which shall not be named" on this forum (because it's technically illegal due to safety issues of watching video while driving). Try the search button up top and see what other alternatives some people have found. Just an FYI, the KPTech module no longer displays video while moving due to the liability issues.

If I got a monitor/TV screen and ran it through the DC converter it would operate independently from the G's restrictions correct? Thus bypassing the whole "can't watch movies in motion fool!" setting?

You can put a 19" monitor on your lap connected directly to your PS2 AV cables for all anyone cares....
That has no bearing on messing with the in-car screen.

Before you go buying a seperate screen and wasting that money, search around for a video-in-motion bypass. You probably won't find anything on the forum, because we aren't supposed to talk about how to do it. But it has been done before.

I think I'll deal with not being able to play/watch in motion. It's not for me anyway, it's for my passengers (best friend and girlfriend...both extremely ADD). Guess they can just suck it up. Thanks for the help guys.
