New Sound System Install
New Sound System Install
so this past weekend my friend and i did my sound system... he was basically the brains behind the operation since i didn't know too much, but he taught me as we went through... so yeah here are the pics
and thanks to blackbetty for the subs and 4awg grounding kit!
this was just the amp (alpine pdx-1.600 and 2 subs (Image Dynamics ID10V.3's):

i had a zenclosure box that fit really well:

i wanted some extra bass and definitely got it... so one question is should i dynamat my car? it rattles the whole trunk area pretty bad when i crank it up... is the dynamat really worth it?

dynamat is 100% worth every penny. i did all of my old explorer (2 12" W6s) and it almost stopped all rattling. even a lil bit will go a long way. the more you buy the better it is. but for sure invest in the product! fun stuff to install BTW
Looking good. I wish the Zenclosures box had a better match for the G's carpet.
You should 100% dampen the trunk (and the back of your license plate) but Dynamat is pretty expensive compared to comparable and sometimes better competing products. It's your decision on what to use (do some research or ask the audio pro guys here what they'd recommend) but you should definitely sound dampen your car. On my old car I dampened the entire car from the firewall to the trunk and was amazed at the difference it made not only for audio performance but just making the car ride a lot quieter all the time.
EDIT: Here's the link I was looking for that has a comparison of a lot to the leading deadeners out there. Very informative, I think.
