Good point. A carjacker would have a field day if this were possible.

Yeah, but you've got to take into account that car jackers even though illegal are going to approach it like a business. It is far easier to steal on unoccupied, unattended car than running up in the middle of an intersection and forcing someone out of their car. A. they don't know the driver, he may be an off duty officer with a gun sitting in the passenger seat. B. he could be an even harder thug, that would just beat the living crap out of the would be car jacker. C. now instead of just being charged with car jacking, you can tack on attempted robbery, robbery at gun point, or knife point, possible kidnapping charges, and most likely assualt and battery charges.
So to a car jacker looks to be in business longer than one week, there is just not really a plus side to a broad daylight car jacking from the occupant. Criminals while doing illegal stuff, are still in it for the money, and want attract the least amount of attention possible. I.e., Its just simple business, big time bangers aren't going to waste their time with a petty theft that they could potentially get squeezed for when they can commit another crime that will profit more and still bring the same amount of heat.

I still don't understand how anyone can lock their intelligent key in the car. Now I'm actually curious how this can be done just for ****s and giggles.

Or are we just discussing this hypothetically, and if so, why?

I've left my keys in the golf bag after 18 holes and attempted to close my trunk with the keys inside. Done this on numerous occasions and the trunk would never close. I've also left the keys in the car and tried the button outside to lock the door. Done this one about 3 times (keys fell out of my pocket) and the car would beep multiple times.

So far, so good

Did they have to use a coat hanger to get you out?

I actually tried to lock my keys in my trunk yesterday when I got home... got out of my car, opened the trunk, threw the key in and closed the lid... and it locked! lol Good thing my door was open so I unlocked the trunk with the button on the dash. Maybe the trunk won't lock had I closed and locked my door first?
