Hidden Radar Detector on G37?

I have a Passport 8500. However, I would like to have a nearly completly hidden Radar Detector and not have the cables hanging down.

Is there is a reasonable priced radar that can installed into the car and hidden nearly completly that has similar peformance or better than the Passport 8500 or Valentine One?

Thanks,
Dean

You can get a K40 but those are alot, my grandparents have them in all of there cars and they work great.

Not as many false alarms as my passport.

You could always hadwire the other radar detector but it will never look as clean or be as stealth as a K40. I can take some pics of the install if you would like.

I also have a X50 and it works great, you need to turn off the X band because you get alot of false alarms.

The K40s used to be pretty bad in the old days but I saw reviews that show they apparently are a lot better. They are pricey though.

I personally am a fan of the Passport 8500 which I found more sensitive than the Valentine One. I also didnt like the builky size of the Valentine One but I do love the bogey arrows.

I might since if a local electronic guru can add a sensor in the front of the car and hide the Passport display somewhere discreet.

You gys all know that if you get stopped with the radar detector, you are not going to get a break on the ticket.

I have a X50 and i am using one of those stealthcords. I have it right next to the rear view mirror. From the outside you can't see the radar because it is hidden by the tint at the top of the windshield

If you hang the detector so the front is just below the front tint line, it's still pretty hard to see. I have a 9500i set up like that with a stealth cord and it works very well. You could hide it behind the tint strip, but then you risk 1) the tint strip reducing range if it's a metallic tint, and 2) blocking the gps antenna on the top of the detector....if so equipped (I did that). I thought my 9500i had a shorter range when behind the tint, so that's something to watch out for. Might have just been my mind worrying about it though...

Yeah, mostly true. But, if you have a good detector and good eyes (looking out for laser and IO K-band), you shouldn't have to worry about getting pulled over.

Also, mounting the RD so it's covered when the visor is down might help during a "roadside chat"

I went 4 years with a car in arrest me red color without getting a ticket which is my longest streak. Honestly, paying attention does more than radar detectors. However, there are times the radar do help. Lets face it, if the radar detector saves you from one ticket, it is well worth the investment.

In my state, my insurance would go up $600 or more if I got one ticket as I technically have a perfect driving record.

The tickets are about 250 in my state and it costs about $500 total for an attorney to get you out of the ticket. They basically work it out to where it is a improper equipment charge (speedo was off) and the state still gets their money for the fine but no insurance points are charged so everyone is happy.
