Question about using voice recognition with phonebook dialing
So I did a search on this forums, and found a few threads on the topic, but none of them seemed to answer the question in my mind, so here goes.
I have the nav package, and when I try to make a phone call using the "phonebook <name>" option, it doesn't work. What I have to do is first hit the button, wait for them to stop talking. Say "Phonebook." Then wait for them to talk, and then say the person's name, wait for confirmation and then finally say "dial!"
I talked to a friend of mine who has the premium but NOT the nav, and he can just hit the talk button twice and say "phonebook <name>" and it works.
It seems that in the manual, people with no nav can hit the talk button twice to cut off the system mid-speech. Why do we not have this option(at least I can't find it) for owners with nav installed?
The best I've been able to do so far is enable the option for minimum help text so that when you first hit the talk button, it doesn't say anything. Then I say "phonebook" and wait the confirmation. As soon as it beeps, I can say the name and then hit the enter button to instantly start the call.
This takes dialing down to just about 3 steps, but it still seems that it's way more inefficient than my friend's car who doesn't have the nav system.
Am I missing something? Is there an easier way for owners with nav to call with a single command? It seems kinda silly that for nav owners, hitting the talk button again while the prompt is being spoken PAUSES the system. Why can't it just skip past the prompt and let us speak commands? I'm hoping that I'm just being a noob and missing something
