adding nav
adding nav
i am looking to buy a MT, vibrant red with graphite interior G37 and after a long time of search i finally found one. The only bad thing is that it doesnt have the navigation package which is really the only package i care about.
So my question is if the car already has the premium package on it, is there a way to buy something to add infiniti's navigation software to the G37 later?

There has been a few discussion on this... Essentially, all things are possible, but may not be finanically feasible. Would likely cost you twice as much. I'll see if I can track down that thread for ya.
Here's the alternative some people are using: http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=177080
If it were me, I'd just tell the dealer the Nav is a must for you. If they really want your business, they will find the car for you. If not, just wait for the 09s.

I had something similiar to that in my G35. It worked well but it's nothing compared to the factory Nav. I suggest you wait for one to come along w/Nav since it is "the only package you care about."
To install the Nav package afterwards would probably run you upwards of $3000. The screen needs to be replaced (it is not touch on non-nav), need to purchase the single CD slot to allow for room of the HDD (which you also have to purchase) and it would probably take at least 8+ hours for an install. It's not worth it and I guarantee within 3-4 weeks another one will come along. Make sure your dealer is aware you ONLY want a car with Nav and they will find you one. Most likely they just want to sell you a car ASAP so they've told you it would take a long time to get one with Nav.

the nav and tech would be a cool option but i find voice command for speed and temp a lil over the top, I wish i could have got it just to say i got it but really i think its a bit usless , pretty much a nice bell or whistle! as for nav i dont travel to often and i live in a town of 30,000 so i dont really need nav! not bashing just throwing it out there, some ppl may need it in the larger centers tho and that would be a nice option for sure!
FWIW, the new TomTom GPS portable navigation systems have the voice of Mr. T, instead of the traditional female voice, as an option. I can't see anybody getting lost when Mr. T yells at you to "turn left, fool"!

It definitely wouldn't be feasible even if it was possible. You would have to purchase and install the hard drive, swap the LCD screen, purchase and install new buttons for the navigation features, etc.
If you really want the Navi package, just hold out longer until you find one.
