Excellent, I'm convinced and I'm quite happy about it. Having that warning makes sense.
Does anyone have a link to this PDF file? Or do I have to pay for it, or are links to it not allowed?

Yes. the IK battery. Maybe because the car I bought was a demo. Maybe a bad battery. The second IK is fine, maybe was not used by the dealer at all.

Just as a Note... BMW's do charge the keys to the car and store service info on the key. If you take your car in the service advisors have a little reader that the key sits in that will let them know all the pertinent information about the care and all the warnings and service issues.

They always reminded me to rotate keys ever once in a while to make sure that the spare key did not die.

Not entirely correct. That slot is also used as a valet key. Thats why you lock the glove box and turn off the trunk pass through switch in the glove box. Then give the intell key to the valet while you keep the hard key.

If the Valet driver leaves the fob in the slot the car won't lock and will be real easy to steal - not a good idea.

Well, that was part of the design as I am pretty sure its stated in the manual as a function of it. Also, usually valeted cars are in a controlled lot and if not, I am sure they would take the key away, as has been done with me.

What are you talking about? It has nothing to do with valet or anything. The key stash is used to put your key in if you want but you don't need to. If the battery dies on your key then you will need to put the fob in the key stash to start the car. A valet just needs your key fob with the key for the glove box and door removed from it to start the car but the key fob does not need to be in the key stash at least not when I tried it.
