Valentine 1 Owners.....Clicky here!

I got my Valentine 1 in the mail today and hooked it up. I read the manual, set my volume dial and lever, and played with the three modes. According to the manual, this detector sounds to be sweet and accurate.

So far the stupid thing is a nightmare. Its so freaking annoying and beeps at anything and everything. I was sitting at an intersection with no cops and it was going nuts of a bogey counter reading of 9. I had a CVS, Walgreens, gas station and some other strip center on the 4 corners.

The drive only got worse. I ended up just unplugging it and putting my Bel Vector 995 back up which occasionally beeps at random stores/hospitals.

Am I doing something wrong? What makes it so sensitive to the lightest signals? I thought it filtered out the questionable signals and only alerted them when the signal strength increased?

Thanks!!!

What setting do you have it on? I always leave it on the big "L" which I can't remember the meaning of at the moment. The intersections with the various stores will be annoying, but you learn to tune it out/have it be second nature to reach up and push the button the mute it. I have had this detector for a few years now and love it. I am just waiting on my invisicord to come so I can hook it up in the car again

Dude, this is what I did to make my V1 hardly EVER false alert. Read this post and you'll find it a big help. I also run mine in the "big L" mode, I think it's city mode. Disable the laser too if you have the tech package.

I've been running it in the big L mode mostly. I figured that was the TOP mode.

The laser is still active with the big L. The settings are A for all bogeys little l for Logic mode which shows the bogeys but no sound, and big L for advanced Logic which does its best to filter out false alarms.

I agree. I have the 8500 x50 which is still a good buy if you can find it for under $200 especially. I own 2 of them and they dont false too often. Just near the obvious things liek banks, walgreens, kmarts, etc. KA detection si superb...I leave X off. And K falses ocassionally.

the escort 9500 adds even better detection and cancels falses out with GPS technology - that beats out V1's directional antenna. whats the point in being told which direction all ur falses are??? if ur tryn to find a pharmacy maybe haha...

+1... I use the 8500 x50 with great results. I have X band turned off since the po around here doesn't use x-band (Mostly K or Ka). I have laser turned on and it's great because the tech package doesnt interfere.

With my V1 programming, 98.5% of the alerts are the real deal.
Sometimes I see the cop/hiding place and sometimes I don't. The arrows let me know if I'm approaching or leaving the danger zone...
Sometimes there is another cop right after the first, the bogey counter lets me know how many signals are being received...
If a cop does set up shop where a "false" signal is normally received, the counter will alert me to the extra signal...
I could praise the V1 all day but I've learned that there is no easy way to convince some people.
I won't be addressing any more jabs at the V1 here, I'm done.
This thread is aimed at V1 owners, as per the thread title.

I owned a V1 before my 9500I and like the 9500i much better because of the true lockout feature... Alerts me when there actually is a cop just as well as the V1 did and doesnt go off X alert 300 times a day... what more could you ask for? I picked mine up at sharper image. have it hard wired into my car. will post pictures when i get home.

Turn the volume control down.. i pass by those intersections too and theres nothing you can do about it. How often do you speed in the streets anyways? I think the radar is best for highway use and useless in the streets.
