The Escort 9500i breaks K Band down into approximately eight segments of 30MHz depending on how it has self-calibrated.

If you lock out a K band door opener in that particular segment, it will not alert to police shooting K band radar in that segment.

That means that when you lock out one door opener, it will not alert to 12.5% of K band shot in the area where you locked out the "false" signal.

Most stores have many door openers and they all potentially operate in different segments of K band so you could lock out all segments of K band and not even know it.

Locking out 1 segment blocks 12.5% of K band shot in that area.
Locking out 2 segments blocks 25.0% of K band shot in that area.
Locking out 3 segments blocks 37.5% of K band shot in that area.
Locking out 4 segments blocks 50.0% of K band shot in that area.
Locking out 5 segments blocks 62.5% of K band shot in that area.
Locking out 6 segments blocks 75.0% of K band shot in that area.
Locking out 7 segments blocks 87.5% of K band shot in that area.
Locking out 8 segments blocks 100.0% of K band shot in that area.

The Escort 9500i may be more quiet than the Valentine One but it could be silent and deadly for you at the same time. Do you want a Valentine One that will alert you to all police frequencies or do you want to gamble with a speeding ticket because you think that the Escort 9500i has a cool GPS setup with a flawed TrueLock feature?

Most door openers operate on K band in my area and a few are still using X band.

Same here.

I got sick of my Escorts getting the "Service Required" and "Self Calibration" errors (Been through 3...Solo, 7500, 8500...which are now just sitting in my closet). Plus with the V1, you can always upgrade without having to buy a whole new unit. The arrows help out tremendously also, which none of the Escorts feature.

In any event, goto http://www.guysoflidar.com/ if you want to get into the nitty gritty. V1 beats the 9500i.

Edit:
Check this comparison test: http://www.guysoflidar.com/august-20...ctor-test.html

Warning to V1 owners and probably all the others.

Coming through GA last Sunday I took a direct hit from a laser. The V1 never made a sound and it's usually very good about seeing them.

I was just east of Ft. Benning in the slow lane getting off for gas when I saw the cop standing on the over pass with what looked like a large pair of binoculars, two lenses side by side with a handle. Traffic was light so I know he hit me. After I fueled up, I passed two cars pulled over by troopers.

I sent an email in to Valentine asking about it. We'll see.

Got a quick response from Valentine on the no detect problem.

They said that the V1 should pick up ALL lasers and suspect that the cop was bore sighting the gun.

They said that if you're hit at very close range, the V1 (and the other brands) might not see it. Well, that's not good news but if you're hit at close range, you're toast anyway.

Don't expect a laser shifter from V1 either. They won't make them.

Yeah... usually once you've been hit with laser you're busted. I remember reading a while back in one of the auto magazines radar tests that if you have your high beams on it lessens the distance required by lidar to get an accurate reading. Something about the light emitted in your headlights interferes with the lidar. I wonder if we could rig something up with the laser from the intelligent cruise control to spread a wide beam across the road ahead and decrease the lidar accuracy?

I know the test you are referring to and high beams only worked on the first generation of lidar guns and those aren't in use anymore.

Is this the test you were talking about?

You can see the first generation lidar guns under the "Out-of-Production Laser Guns" title.

I believe the binoculars you are referring to is the Kustom ProLite lidar gun.

Did it look like this?

Read about it here:

If this is not it, check under the "Current Production Laser Guns" title for current lidar guns in use.

You can also check to see what lidar guns are used in your state at the link below.

They were different than those.

They had much larger lenses and were like an over and under shotgun except with a handle which looked like a pistol grip. I'm hoping my memory serves me right on that description.

Never seen anything like them before. I checked the guysoflidar site and didn't see pictures of anything close.

Maybe a prototype of something new? Don't know.
