http://gtrlife.com seems to have the most traffic. Member Legertas is the AV master on that site. He may even have the answer though he is a businessman and would likely rather sell his conversion kit than anything else...
yea, this is the female end / part under the dash. Also if i remember right the connector actually labels the first and last pins on it so you can just count them too.
So I got a cheapo headunit off eBay for the 2010+, and just like that, there we go. Didn't even open the unit up.
More to come as I figure it out....
Also, i have no idea what car this is from. I thought it was a G37 but it's obviously set up for some Nissan. PN 29515 3LZ0C. not that it matters. We can change all that now
Now that is a mystery only because when I did the swap 6 years ago I bought that exact p/n from a 2014 "Q60." Pic from eBay invoice:
Booted up in typical Infiniti livery. Proof positive that there is no rhyme to reason w/ Nissan's part numbering scheme.
The vehicle type was set to "wagon, 4 door" so it's some SUV if i had to guess. I guess i'll email the seller and ask wtf its from.
ANYWAYS. Progress. I have figured out the following.
- Change opening animation from Infiniti or Nissan. I have not found the GT-R ID.
- Change the overall theme from Nissan to Infiniti (either blue or some orange looking color)
- Change vehicle type and shape. The type HAS to be set to GT-R or the MFD screen is just blank
- Turn on TPMS information. I will have 0 way to test this.
Also, @ihateu3 had mentioned there was something about the climate control not working if you swap a Infinti / Nissan computer over, and I see why now.
There are different types of steering switches, climate panels and radio panels. The types are:
STEERINGSW_06IT
STEERINGSW_X61A
STEERINGSW_D52E
STEERINGSW_X12B
I think the G37 is 06IT
D52E is the GT-R body code.
Probably from a Murano, or Rogue. Quick Google search shows above plus the Maxima and the Zed.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You're having fun with this, aren't you?
Yeah, lol kinda. If I didn't already have the Pi setup I would def throw the updated unit in my car, but obviously there is no point now for me. I got the 2010 unit hoping to find a hint as to how to change the button map, but after you pointed out that module that starts up before the HU in the video, it's clear that it's not possible.
I'm just hoping with the datalog from the GT-R I can at least throw the 09 unit in my car and leave a little script running on the Pi to call the MFD. That'd be cool.

Yep, and I turned on the TPMS screen too, but I can't test it of course.
I love seeing all of this progress. Can I donate to the cause since you're buying a lot of stuff to figure these units out iCrap?
Edit: Couple posts I missed since I opened this page and walked away. I'm going to a car show on Saturday, if you can help me get mine to boot up with the Nissan splash I would be so grateful.
For the splash screen all you gotta do is send this: sys 2 9 1 8 1
But you need the console access. I need to writeup the thing for that still. if you have some arduinos and a level shifter you can make the serial tool
Also, i can't get my 2009 buttons to work on this thing. Dunno if they are different.
