Sorry for the tough questions, I fear the answer might not be what I want to hear ;D

Let me also add that from what I can see the enclosure has the speaker fairly far indented into the space. Could the speaker mounting ring be brought out, even raised somewhat, to help free up some internal space?

Take a look at how the Polk sub is mounted on the enclosure in this car http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/in...olk.php?id=29# to see what I mean.
