You have to have the factory fob to drive the car either way. If you start the car remotely it will quit when you put your foot on the brake unless you have the factory fob.
The starter fob has just has one button like the rs-611. Hope that doens't affect my range.

I talked to the local Infiniti Service Dept here in Calgary and they said that a remote start would void the warranty. I think they are just chicken.

I'll continue looking...

Lol.. funny you should mention Erikson Nissan/Infiniti..

I've been talking to their parts manager as of late for getting some things done; the remote start is one of them.

They're also an hour away from me so I can't just drop in on them and ask. Sorry.
Just wondering why you went with Fields and not another dealership closer to you????

Not that Fields is bad, I love them...I actually got my car there as well...I drive past their place every day since I work down the street from them...Plus my company does a lot of work for them when there Garage doors get hit...or when someone throws a football through one of their windows like Brian did a couple years ago (I think it was him since he called it in when it happened)

Cuz they were the only ones who took the time to find me the car I wanted. The new Infiniti people downtown were not helpful to me and were actually a little snotty. I never had a problem at the old Infiniti dealership but didn't like the attitude at all from the new guys. I contacted about 10 dealerships in the area incl. Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan & even Missouri and Fields is the only one that tracked my car down so they got my business. The buying experience with Greg there was also almost painless except for the check and their service has been great so I'll keep giving them the biz. Got a free lunch even—though I'm sure I paid for it elsewhere.

There is nothing better than going to drop off your car and getting a free, FRESH, breakfest/lunch....or being able to sit and watch a movie in their theater room...I must say, I had the same experience you had...My salesman looked for the car I wanted, found it, and made a great deal with me. Definatly one of the best places I have been to when it comes to buying cars...atleast in this area.

The problem with using the factory Inteligent Key (IK) for the remote start seems to be a substancial limit in range. You are going to get about 50' (fifty feet) for the remote start if you want to stick with the factory IK; and even then you'll need clear line of sight. The IK just does not have the right power or even broadcasts on a frequency that lends itself to longer ranges.

Someone who has this setup; can you verify the above?

Varies between 50-80 feet. Just depends on the gods. Sometimes it takes a few tries...I can get my car to start from across the street and about 3 houses down. If you have longer distances or a big apartment complex then that may be a bummer for you. Works OK for me and I like not having to have another key.

Try holding the key to your chin when you hit the button. It seems to extend the range for locking / unlocking on the G as well as my Audi. I didn't think it would work but it does, something about your skull being used as an antenna? lol
