On my 06 coupe I had to use some elbow grease to get it in there, hoping its going to be easier on the new car. I basically had to use some pliers to force it in there. I looked at the harness today and I was wondering which one was the switched 12v, and lo and behold the forums already had it figured out! Gotta love this site... Oh and Mike's Mount from the 06 fits the mirror stem on the 08 as well, although its not as perfect.

Ok, is it possible that the thinner wires are actually worse off on the 08 G37? Those things are thin enough that on the first try I managed to bend them. I finally gave up, and did a quick splice of the wires. The splice can be taken off when I return the vehicle. I'll post some pics of the final project soon...

Daang guys. I had the regular cord... and it was working fine on switched power. But now my connections keep comin out too.
I can't get the +12v to stay in switched so i have it in the constant power source for now. Will try the pliers idea to force it it in the switched (brown wire).

Are you guys pushing the probes thru the TOP part or from underneath? I've dont both ways and found more room going in from the top side of the wire.

I have the G35 invisicord, and it was a pain to install on the G37 because the clearances are very tight. I went in from the bottom on ground, and side on +12vdc. I tried every orientation and this was the only way I could get it in. Of course your mileage may vary. I had to use needlenose pliers, but did not force it.

That freaking switched 12v is a pain in the a$$, it kept popping out. The ground went in easily for me, so I have it in the constant 12v now...

p.s. I got some of those sticky felt caps from home depot and stuck it on the radar, so its pushed up tight against the bottom of the mirror, takes care of rattles and vibrations.

I've had the escort on my g35 before and it worked wonders. I would have gotten the v1 if there wasn't such a price difference. For those with the V1, is the difference between the two that drastic?

Yes, the Valentine One beats Escort and Bel across the board. With a radar detector, you want as much times as possible to slow down once your detector alerts you to laser and radar and the Valentine One provides that.

once you use a gps based detector (i.e. 9500i) you'll never go back. i've never been impressed with the v1.. extremely happy with my escort... no more false alarms on my way into work!

i have the 9500i and i love it. the true lock out is the best feature in the world. best for the price. the valentine one is great if you dont do much city driving.

Just wanted to let you speeder know that the best radar detector in the world isn't going to help you if the officer knows what he is doing. I use radar and laser and catch speeders with radar detectors all the time. Have also caught a few with jammers. The last one (in a G35) WAS GOING 95 MPH IN A 65 ZONE. So beware if you come to Houston.

The problem with your statement is that it is just not true. With Laser, maybe I agree with you. But with radar, what you are claiming is simply not true, unless part of your skill as an officer is to bend the laws of physics.

Everytime you blast your radar to check someone's speed, you spray radar over a very large area. High quality detectors are very sensitive and will pick up your splashed radar signal from over half a mile away.

Yes, you can use your skills to improve your chances against a radar detector equipped driver, by not running the radar continously (my local PD drives around everywhere w/ their radar on full-time... dumb, huh?) and thus giving you a chance to get a reading on someone when it is too late for them to do anything about it -- but, now that you've done that, all the oncoming traffic for about .5-1 mile knows you are there, so you will not be catching any of them. In a few minutes, you have a new set of cars that don't know you are there, so you can try again.

To say that a radar detector does not help you in the above scenario is just foolishness. Of course it helps! It doesn't guarantee I won't be the unlucky guy to win the ticket lotto, but it certainly reduces my chances. I have to be THE guy you pick out of the flow, and you have to have sat "quiet" for long enough to be out of my detector's range. Couple this with the fact that most officers DON'T know what they are doing, or just lazily leave the radar on continously, and on the whole, the odds are WAY in my favor vs. a motorist with no detector.

The detector provides a BIG improvement in my odds vs. the other cars around me. Enough to make it EASILY worth the $400 investment so somebody else can win the ticket lotto instead of me.
