Infiniti G37 microfilter panel replacement

where they do not remove the glove box liner and just pull the backplate and the glove box all out at one time. this seems easier, anybody do it this way?
also is there a best filter out there.
I ordered the fram baking soda/charcoal fresh breeze from rockauto for $19.61 w $3 rebate. anyone tried these?

This is how I replaced my cabin filter a month ago. I took it apart the usual way (removing the door from the compartment, then removing the shell in order to replace the bulb. I then did this again to replace the cabin filter, and the way in the video is definitely faster. You'll need a long screwdriver like they mention, though. It is very useful for it to have a magnetic tip.

I pull the whole shebang out myself. I've never done it any other way. If you are not used to working a screwdriver, an extended magnetic tipped screwdriver would likely be partiucarlly helpful, but my plan jane screwdriver, iirc #2 4", did the trick for me.

The latest filter I got was a cheap charcoal filter from RockAuto. It was my first time working with RockAuto, and they are a new favorite vendor for me, but next time I'll spend the extra for Nissan's grapeseed filter.

Edit: Last time I also spent a bit of time seeing if I could pull out the whole cabin filter enclosure area or at least a half of it so I could remove the cigarette smoke residue from the previous owner. After an hour or two I eventually gave up and just simply pulled out the blower motor, but that limited how well I could clean everything. So if anyone has any insight, I'd love some input. I basically don't use the heater, just used heated seats, due to the cigarette smoke.

So I finally did this. I did it the two step way. Maybe I just have the right kind of fingers, but I did not have that much trouble with the damper. I basically got at it from above the box with my right index and middle finger and extended it down to my left index and middle finger to the left of the box and popped it on. Whole process was maybe 10-15 minutes.

Airflow is down. The motor is below the filter case. Its pretty obvious when you look at it.

Previous owner obviously had changed it before. Two of the seven screws are missing, and the damper was not connected. Or maybe just a crappy dealer mechanic.

New filter and LED light installed.

Protip: install the LED, then flip the lights on to make sure you have it inserted the right way before you reassemble.

Thanks for the DIY!<!-- google_ad_section_end --> Had some free time today and brought the laptop out with this thread opened and had the filter replaced in about a half hour. If you separate the glove box, it is easier to get to the screws and is lighter and not as awkward to install.

Does anyone know the part number for the little white clips that are on the trim piece above the glove box? There are 2 on that piece and I think 1 on the side trip piece. I lost one, can't find a part number and it's rattling a little now. Dealer says they only come with the trim piece which is like $200.

I took over 2 hours to replace the cabin filter...Never again

I didn't realize that the damper pin comes off. I unplugged the string from the pin and took well over 40+ mins to put it back on...It took over 20 mins to take it off. And The panels were so tight that it took a while to pop out.

WHy can't they be like a honda accord?

LOL, I'm the opposite..... was so much easier on my G37 Coupe than it was on my Accord.
