I’m interested in the illuminated kick plates but am not sure how installation would go. I’ve seen kits and they come with a little more wires. Would you be able to provide some insight? Those wouldn’t fit the coupe would they?

Sure, no problem. I installed some custom sill plates and cut the OEM plates out to leave myself enough of the existing wire to connect the new plates to. I made sure to leave enough of the wire attached to the OEM plates so new wires could be attached again later on (in case my new plates didn't work out). If I was re-installing them, I would connect the wires back with a solder joint and heat shrink to make the joint as small as possible. In your case, you would need some length of similar gauge wire to extend them.
Let me know if that answers your question.
