Poor man's G37 sedan mod page!

This was a great thread on my old car forum. It was basically an epic thread that just continued to get bigger and more creative. The basic premise is for this to be a one stop thread for cheap mods. $40 and under mods only. Basically im a cheap bastard and I know others are too.

I can hear it now. "You paid too much for your car to do cheap mods". The goal here is for inexpensive, cost wise, not cheap looking. I haven't done these mods, but here's what I'm getting at

COST - essentially free

Debadge your trunk. More than likely you'll have all the stuff you need lying around your house. First heat up the emblems by parking your car in the sun or using a hair dryer. Use dental floss to get behind and "cut" off the emblems. Now a little goo gone (even iso alcohol will work), now a quick compounding and wax and you're done.

Cost - $20

Plastidip wheels black. Real easy way to see what your car looks like with black wheels. I would not recommend for the long haul, but definitely good for a few months. I haven't done this to the G, but I did dip my VW wheels at one point.

Please add your own...

Jsolo's clutch pedal helper-spring mod. Best $20 I ever spent on the car.

$10 in primer and paint, and you can customize your engine cover. Here's mine:

Adjusting your headlights so you can see better. Useful for rural areas with no street lamps.

There was no magic on the logo, just really detailed masking, is all. As for color, I wanted gold, but nothing metallic or glossy. This is a satin, non-metallic gold. Honestly, I loved the look after I painted it... but when it went back on the car, it suddenly seemed a little out of place. I tried complementing it with some gold fender washers on the radiator shroud, but it still seems off somehow.

Meh. It is what it is, and I'm keeping it this way for a while.

However, that does bring up another on-topic, cheap mod: VMS fender washers are only $10 - $15 for a 5-pack. It really dresses up the engine bay, too.

No. The dipstick handle is capped with a polished SS piece from Zee-Toyz. If you contact them, they'll send you one that isn't laser-etched with the "Z" for the 350/370 crowd.

It costs about $30 - $35 dollars. Ditto for the radiator cap cover from VMS.

Don't let Rochester fool you, this is no <$40 mod, that damn sticker has cost me about $2500 worth of mods since I got mine. I mean once you get that sticker you're compelled to make the car "4DSC worthy"

My wife said pretty much the same thing. Something along the lines of strapping it to my chest for Halloween.

Women.

Back on topic... let's see the sub-$40 mods, guys. I've got lunch money here in my pocket that I'd rather spend on the car.

Just saw this earlier today and thought it might be handy for the folks that have radar detectors but aren't convinced to spend $$$ for a mirror mount. For an even cleaner install, the mount should be paired by one of those Invisicord/Stealth cords. I'd say this is a sub $40 mod.
