Smile Good News from SPC

Hi Bri,

As a follow-up, our updated control arms are on the shelf and shipping from the factory. The 1st production run got boxed up about one week ago.

As mentioned below, we have increased the cross section of the observed failure point by 55% and have also moved to a higher grade steel.

Best Regards, Ben

Thats great news. Did the part number change? How can we make sure that we are getting the new version and not old stock?

^^Same question. Also, are they recalling all of their prior camber arms?

subscribed as well. I actually purchased the SPL rear arms because I wasn't keen on the ubiquitous front/rear SPC versions.

I emailed them and got a response. There is an exchange program available but you need to pay $150.

Yes, we have developed an upgrade/exchange program.* If you see signs that your arm has been compromised (due to installation error) or you simply want the updated design, SPC will offer you a heavily discounted exchange program.* Feel free to call SPC customer service at 1-800-525-6505.* Our sales team will walk you through the following;*
1.**** We will charge you $450 for a new set of arms. (This will cover regular UPS)
2.**** Once you receive the new arms, swap them out with the ones on your car.
3.**** Send the old arms back to us.
4.**** We will credit $300 back to your credit card upon receipt of the old arms.
*
The new arms you receive will be complete with new ball joints, bushings, and bump stop spacers.*

Thanks for the update. Looks like with the wording they claim on installation errors cause failure. I hope they have different part numbers to order the new arms.

They redesigned it but still recommend using bump stops?

From my understanding, they just switched to a thicker gauge steel using a very similar design as the old. So the arm will still hit the fender if you are really low, hence the need for bump stops.
