Winter Tires for G37xS Coupe Recommendation?

Hi Everyone,

Am a very happy owner of a G37 Coupe AWD Sport package since May 2018 and being that I am living up in Canada I wish to start looking at Winter Tire options as I have the OEM All Seasons which suck from the research I have done. I was very happy with my X-Ice 3's I had on my Maxima but they are not available for my tire size which is 225/45-19. Actually to my surprise and maybe it shouldn't be but many locations didn't have many options for this size if any at all. From Tire Rack the best option seems to be the Winter Sottozero Run Flats although they are quite pricey.

Just curious if anyone with the same tire size might have any recommendations for a good solid winter tire. A friend of mine recommended I just drop down to 18" rims for the winter and get Michelin's but if I did that I wouldn't know what the proper rim size to go with would be. If anyone has some words of advice for a newbie that would be awesome!

Cheers.

I agree with your friend. 225/50/18 is the right size tire if you go 18's Michelin x ice 3's are great and available in that size. 350z rims are cheap and affordable 18" tires that fit over the BBK perfectly. Look on kijiji, there are tons on there

I had blizzaks and they were perfect on my rear wheel drive M37 for the winter. Consider it like wearing boots versus all seasons that are decent sneakers. They'll give you that much more grip

I'm about to enter my 7th and final season with my Blizzak WS70', which have now been on 3 different cars. I'll likely replace them part way into winter, but they've still got 5/32nd of tread left so I'll run them for the start anyway. Probably swapping over in the next week or two.
