Timely

This is very timely for me. I had pretty much the exact question between the two Michelin models, and this confirms for me my lean toward the Pilot Sport A/S3+. Michelin shows a V- and a W-rated version of this tire in my size (225/50R18). The W is only slightly more expensive (~$9/tire), so I'm inclined to go that direction. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

How fast do you plan on going? A "V" is rated for 149mph and "W" is rated for 168mph. If you plan on going over 150 then you should probably get the W, if not then dont worry about it.

I just picked up my car from costco with brand new AS3+, maybe it's just the placebo effect but coming from the OEM ventus tires they already feel better in every aspect!

Pretty sure the car won't exceed 150 with or without me driving it I was asking to see if the "W" would perform better at lower speeds than the "V".

I recall reading somewhere that higher speed rated tires have stiffer sidewalls. Not sure if it's truth or myth - never compared 2 identical tires but with differing speed rating side by side.

Thanks - I figured that would be the case with that tire as it's not as performance-oriented as the Pilot.

I ended up getting the "W" rated tire given the nominal price difference.
