Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

Hey guys,
I was just wondering if any of you put these tires on your G or had driven a vehicle with them. I just wanted wanted some opinions and reviews on these tires before I pull the trigger on em. I heard they recently went on sale in the US and are supposed to be the successor to the Pilot Supersports

If they're better than the PSS, then they'll be phenomenal. I heard they weren't going to become available til around May though.

I think they are coming out this March actually. From what I've heard, they do perform better than the PSS in terms of braking, lap times and even tread wear. They also perform much better in the wet than the PSS and last longer too

I have an order in for them with Tire Rack. It shows a delivery date of March 29. I hope they stick to that date! I'll post a review when I get them mounted.

The 4S are an updated version of the PSS. I spoke to a Michelin rep who told me that the PSS will still be available but the 4S is def. an upgrade and as you saw from the rating projections on Tire Rack, this tire will be on par with the PSS or perhaps a tad bit better. I wanted these on my Q50 but unfortunately a 255/40 isn't available yet so PSS it is for now.

I noticed the same on Tire Rack's site, no 255's which is what I need. The 285's are close in diameter to the OEM tires but they're a few pounds heavier each than a 255.

I have PSS on my car now and it was a remarkable improvement over the OEM Bridgestone RE-O50A's.

RE050 is hands down garbage, I don't understand for the life of me why they still sell this tire. Switching to PSS was like night and day, what an amazing tire.

My current PSS are getting thin and need replacing sooner than later.

245/40/19 and 275/35/19 PSS are $1027 shipped from tire rack.

Same sizes in the PS4 would be $1221.

Million dollar question: Are the PS4s worth $194 more???

I'm really struggling with this. I don't flip to a winter setup, so new tires are an almost annual expense for me.

You can run 245/40, 285/35 on the 19s. It's about the same diameter as the stock setup

I would say its worth it considering they last a little longer than the PSS

I was considering the price difference also - in my sizes were around $150 ($1,367 vs $1,219). The way I justified it was: considering how much the total amount is, $150 isn't that significant to me for a better product. And the other way I looked at it was: even if I saved $150, I'd still be paying a lot for tires, so saving $150 doesn't turn them into something cheap.

For me, I was considering the Kumho PS91. They're supposed to be a good tire, not as good as the PS4S, but WAY cheaper. That's almost $700 less. THAT'S a significant savings, $150 not so much. My two cents.

245/275 is closer to stock (26.7" and 26.6") where 285 is 26.9.

You also should have a minimum 9.5" wheel for 285s and the OEM wheel is 9", so it really isn't compatible with the OE 19s.

They are both 300 treadwear and 30,000 warranty (15,000 staggered).

So it looks like their delivery estimate was on the conservative side - They arrived today! I got them mounted, and they run wide. So I have a tiny bit of rubbing happening in the rear, and they aren't balanced that well. I'm going to take them in to get rebalanced tomorrow, and I'll need to let them outgas a bit before I give a real review. But they're on!

For Reference, those are 275/35/19 (F) and 305/30/19 (R) on 19x9.5 +45/19x10.5 +43
