Need Help Selecting new Tire

Hello,

I have a q40 I am looking for a set of replacement tires similar in price to the general gmax. So far I have looked at the gmax and falken Ziex.

I specifically want to avoid tires like the last set I purchased a set of sumitomos that are high millage but appeared an inch taller in tread depth compared to the original goodyear. Plus they they made the car handle like a van.

Anyways what is the best inexpensive tire with similar as possible look and performance to the stock good years.

Thanks

Here's a list from tirerack~ Using Cookies If you can run summers all year then the deal on the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy at $69 per is a nice deal & will be a much better performer than the Goodyears in all but freezing temps. If you need all seasons most of the Ultra High Performance All seasons should be an improvement from what you've got, the BFG GForce All Season is good but costs about $110 each.

IIRC the OEM Goodyear RS-A tires are a 95V, so the 97W will have a higher load index and speed rating, and the 97W is fine for a G with 4 passengers and gear. A 95 is 1521lbs per tire x4=6084 lbs, a 97 is 1609 per x4=6436 lbs, and a 101 is 1819 per x4=7276. The G is about 3700 lbs so you've got quite a margin for safety w/ the 97 and obviously more for the 101.

Yea I am looking into the firehawk wide oval. I am not opposed to something in the $100 - $120 range I am just surprised. I was expecting the gmax to be the recommendation. But live in a warm area no snow here. I did research here when selecting my last set of tires and the gmax was being discussed a lot. I then regretfully purchased high millage sumos since my first set of goodyears lasted me less than a year. Trying to avoid make a bad tire purchase again the high millage A/S sumos looked taller then the oem tire and drove badly.

Trying to decide between the gmax , firehawk wide oval , and firehawk indy 500 is that better than the wide oval?

Is the gmax the best A/S option in the $110 range ?

Thanks for the reply's im already way ahead in the decision process then had I not asked here.

Thanks again

If you live in a warm area just forget about All Seasons, the performance you'll gain from running 3 season tires will be substantial. The Wide Ovals AFAIK are the older version of the current Firehawk Indy that Riccio has, hence the closeout pricing. These will be a big improvement from what you've had on your car, and for that closeout deal of under $70 per it's hard to ignore. I'd look over all the user reviews and see what cars they've been used on and try to get a better idea for yourself, also tirerack tests them too.
