Winter tire size

Hi, I am a newbie to this forum and I have a question reference my G37xs.

I need to buy winter tires and of course the original size of all my 4 tires are 225/45/19. Someone advised me that if I increase the width of the tires which would be 245/45/19, it would be much cheaper like almost 700 dollars off for all 4. Can this be done?

Thank you.

Welcome to the site! The XS coupe has 19x8.5" wheels but I would go 245/40/19 rather than 45 series if you go w/ 245s, this will keep your diameter similar to your 225/45s. Only downside is the 245s won't cut through the snow quite as well as the 225s but should be better in all other conditions (assuming the same quality tire).

To compensate for the wider tire you will need a smaller sidewall series (which is normal, because the overall diameter of the tires will be almost the same). So you would need 245/40/19.

As mentioned I would advise sticking with the narrower 225/45 tires for winter.

Tks guys. I know after further research I will be looking for 245-40-19 and see if I can get a better price.

Get some cheap 18" wheels and use 225/50/18 all around.

Very hard to find cheap 18 inch wheel when you have Brembo size brake and the wheel has to have a +45 offset. I did shop around and believe me when I say that when I found some, they were hard to find.

Picked these up some years back from discount tire. Fits the brakes just fine.

Here you go, cheap, forged, lightweight, made in Japan, and are true Nismos, and yep, clear the BBK too! https://www.parts.com/index.cfm?fuse...2DD03001EA2510

Did you get the tires yet?

I have a 2013 xs coupe.... contemplating between 19" blizzacks to go on oem rims or a new set of 18" rims/tires. Hmmm

i've always bought Blizzaks, but looking on Tire Rack, they have 19" Pirelli Ice Zero snow tires for $151 each (about $100 less than the Blizzaks).

going to give those a try ....

if you can get 18" wheels to fit over the calipers, go that route with narrower wheels/tires if possible (narrower wheels "cut" through snow better - wider ones "glide" over snow). i bought new wheels and the snows are going on the 19" factory wheels, so i'm stuck with 19's.

Hey guys

Finally got winter tires. I kept 19 inch but but 245/40 vice 225/45.

They are cheaper and of course I know winter tires only last 2 years so 1500 dollars was not an option. Also because I have AWD it may be easier in the snow. Last year in February, we received over 50 cm of snow in 24 hours. I can tell you on my way back home from work I was plowing the snow in my street. My neighbor couldn't believed that I never go stuck. I consider my infiniti a tank when it comes to get thru snow.

Very nice choice. If I were getting rims, I would go for something like that. Enjoy
