why 19 inch tires, seriously cost is outrageous
You're mistaken, up your price by another $100 per tire (when you're talking 200 TW, not budget, but 200 TW tires)
The Hankook RS3s are regarded as some of the best trackday tires you can get.
I know the sizes aren't exactly the same, because of the issue I mentioned earlier, but both of these sizes fit our cars and offer roughly the same performance.
Sorry for the dropbox links, I'm at work lol.

My considerations for dropping to an 18in size was because of how much I drive - I average something like 35,000 miles/year on the G. So in two years, with 200TW tires which last roughly 15,000 miles and a few trackdays thrown in, you're looking at a savings of $800. That and my car looks cooler now because wheels, which incidentally are lighter resulting in a performance AND economy increase.
You literally cannot go wrong with dropping to 18s.
If you're bothering at all to look for performance tires, you wouldn't run 225s on these cars. They're too heavy and will heat soak the absolute **** out of them.
Also, those aren't "200 TW" or what would be more closely defined on Tire Rack as "Extreme Performance Summer" tires. They are not the same.

theyre 280 tw. i just looked at oem replacement size. i dont got energy to be guessing what sizes people wanna compare. anyway i dont really care lol. i got nothing to whine about regarding tire prices. thats jus how it is.
From Tire Rack for staggered Sport wheels:
Yokohama Advan Sport
UTQG = 180
225/50-18 95W $222.40
245/45-18 96W $173.94
Bridgestone Potenza RE71A
UTQG = 200
225/50-18 95W $151.45
245/45-18 100 XL $203.55
Bridgestone Potenza RE050A
UTQG = 140AA
225/50-18 95W $244.37
245/45-18 100 XL $235.27
OE tires, not particularly sticky in my experience
Brdgestone Potenza RE050A
UTQG = 140AA
225/45-19 96W XL $240.20
245/40-19 98W XL $196.90
These are the only tires with ~200 treadwear in stock sizes. They offer really serious performance tires but treadwear is down to ~80 and don't come in stock sizes. You'd have to square up or play with sizing to get these on your G. I didn't see Toyo on their site. I tried Discount Tires but their web site is not built to allow much in the way of custom searches.

No mention of michelin pss. Data from tirerack.com
Michelin PSS
UTQG = 300AA
225/50-18 99Y $183.60
245/45-18 100Y XL $228.20
Michelin PSS
UTQG = 300AA
225/45-19 96Y XL $214.40
245/40-19 98Y XL $235.40
Totals:
18" = 823.60
19" = 899.60
$76 difference. Granted, those prices seem kind of high now. I paid under $800 after rebate and installation back in april for stock 18" sizes.
Many like to run wider tires, so that $76 gap will widen for sure.

I looked at a Mazda 6 and they were standard with the 19's, sometimes their decisions escape me. It isn't as bad as a paper gasket, but it is bad. Esp on a wheel that doesn't look much better than the standard 17.
