20" x 9.5" +40 all around on G37x - Will it fit?

Hey everyone, my first post here! I just bought a 2011 G37x about 2 weeks ago and I'm in the process of shopping for wheels and tires. I'd like to go with the rim size listed in the title but I need to know if I'll have any fitment issues. There doesn't seem to be much room up front between the steering knuckle and the stock wheel as is so I'm worried the extra width won't work. I'll probably go with 245/35/20 on the tires btw.

Anyone have the same set-up? Or any real world experience with this fitment? Thanks in advance for your input.

Carl (Intricate detail) was running 18x9.5 +45 here

There is tight knuckle clearance w/ 18s but you'll be fine with 20s since the steering knuckle curves away as it goes higher. You will be close to the inner fender edge under heavy compression but will tuck ok. That tire size is a good choice.
FWIW there's a coupe Gs (tbulsara & MylilG) running 10.5 +35 in this thread (first page or two) and they clear that knuckle (a 10.5 +35 has 7mm less clearance to a 9.5 +40 inner clearance).

I'm running 19x9.5 +33 with 245/40/19 all around and no clearance issues at all. My setup is 7mm more aggressive towards the fender than you are so you should be fine.

I'll have to check out those set-ups, if a 10.5 can clear then you're right, my 9.5 should be no prob. Are you sure the knuckle curves away though? When I stuck my head under there I thought it curved towards the rim but I'll check again.

I am still deciding on 245's vs 255's, I don't want a stretched look so I might go up to 255's but then again some 255's look too big to me. I'll have to do more research but with a 9.5" wide rim maybe 255's are the way to go.

I am a little more worried about clearing the knuckle than the fender but it's good to hear you don't have any issues with that setup.

You'll clear the knuckle as you go up from an 18 to a 20 you'll get more clearance.

Like everyone else said. Those will fit with ease. Need more negative offset

Idk, based on what I've seen the +40 offset on a sedan will get me just about perfectly flush which is what I'm looking for. I don't really want the rims sticking out at all.

A 9.5" wide wheel with a +40 offset needs about 15-20mm worth of spacers to sit flush on a sedan when running "normal" camber (less than 2.0*).

Here are my 18x9.5's +40 offset. This picture and the tires make the wheels look flush, but they weren't even close. This was with 275's all the way around. You can actually see how bread trucked the fronts were:

I would say you would need a 20mm spacer up front and 15mm spacer in the rear to get a 9.5" wheel to sit perfectly flush if all wheels have a +40 offset.

Here's some 18x9.5 +38 on 255s, looks pretty good to me, but my "flush" isn't what another's "flush" will be since I'm old, lol

To 18s back i go! - G35Driver

Here's an example of what I'm seeing with that high of an offset - these GTR wheels are actually at +45 and still sit flush. Or at least what I consider flush. But I'll do some more searching, I've found some in a +32 that will bring them out more.

Maybe I'm old too then because that looks pretty good to me!

I got 9.5 +20 all around and they fit no problem. Rears needed a bit of extra camber, but no big deal.

Flush to me is where the face of the wheel sits exactly even with the top of the fender lip / widest part of the fender. To me those GTR wheels would need spacers as is not to mention I have no idea what that guys alignment specs are which would also greatly affect that decision.

I also am a firm believer that there are differences in "offsets" between different manufacturers. Cheaper cast wheels tend to be close with their measurements and not spot on. My current Volks with a 19x9.5" wheel with a +17mm offset sit just about perfect. I didn't measure to see if those specs were dead on accurate, but you get my point.

Well it's been a couple months since I started this thread. Long story as to why it took so long to come back to it so I'll tell that in another thread. Ended up going with 20 x 10 +40 Niche Verona wheels with 255/35/20 Kuhmo Ecsta 4X II tires.

Here's a few pics -

They stick out a little more than I'd like them to but I can live with it. Thanks everyone for all the advice!
