New wheels causing steering wheel to shake

I recently bought new wheels for my car. I've noticed when I go at higher speeds my steering wheel starts to shake/shimmy. When I had the stocks ones it didn't do it. Any input of what can be going on?

Do you have hubcentric rings? I had bought aftermarket wheels and had a persistent vibration since day one. Finally took it to a place that had a road force balancer and they noticed every rim was slightly out of round, but they were able to get the wheels and tires balanced, just took some time. Road force balancing is a must.

I don't think I have them on there tbh. I'll check with the guy that installed them for me. and I'll check to see if they have the road force balancer

thanks for the input

Hub rings are a must. Your ride will vibrate at a certain speed due to the difference of the bore size between your wheel and the car mount. You can check yourself as well. Just remove a wheel and if the wheel has a ring install. Here is one of my old ones

If you need some try to get aluminum ones, much better than plastic adapters. Ebay has them for about $15. Need to confirm your new wheels hub bore, most are 73.1mm and the Infiniti is 66.1mm

2 options. Get the hub centric ring as stated, or get some ET lug nuts. Both help keep the wheel centered on the hub.

Also, make sure the wheel is properly balanced as well

I am assuming the new rims were balanced after the tires were installed and the lugs were torqued to spec?

yes they were. I'm hoping when I add the rings and rebalance again that it should get rid of the problem.

First just put the hub rings on and reassess things.

Unless pulling the wheels one at a time isn't a DIY for you. Not everyone has a floor jack, torque wrench, space or time... I get that.

unfortunately I don't have the space and equipment to do it myself. I will be getting this done soon and see if it helps
