Anyone have them? how long have they lasted for you?

I just got serviced yesterday, and I have 3/32 on mines all around, 18's. The thing is I bought these about 5 or so months ago and have put only 6,800 miles on them. They're expensive but don't even last long. Anyone have similar experience.

Thinking since I have to buy new tires I'm going with the IPL rims + tires, which tires do you guys prefer with greater durability?

 

They have a 30K tread wear warranty. Go back to where you purchased them and you'll get a prorated refund. 6800 miles is very low.

 

I've had mine for a few months. I went from the stock RE050As with about 3/32s to new PSSs and it was a substantial improvement both wrt handling and reduced noise/vibrations. My biggest complaint is that they are not the best looking tire and they seem to drink armor-all, so they always look dull.

 

Is your alignment good and are you tracking the car? They should definitely last longer than that.

The PSS should have 4x that tread wear if aligned properly and not really pushing the car hard regularly.

 

No tracking, I drive my G37 mainly on highways for about 24 miles in total to and from work. But this was the first time I had the rotation/balancing since. I have not yet gotten an alignment but maybe it's something I should do then before buying new tires.

 

If you're doing a ton of highway driving there's either something seriously wrong with your car or with the set of tires you got. Did all 4 wear evenly?

 

Supposedly all 4 are 3/32, I'm not sure if they're trying to up sale me or what but yeah it's 3/32, 2 months ago it was 6/32 at my last oil change.

 

Did the shop show you the actual wear on the tire or just record a number a sheet and present it to you?

Look at the tires yourself. You should be able to see the wear indicator bars at 2/32". If tires are truly that worn, these indicators should be very visible. Look at the condition of the tires (all 4) are they worn evenly across or is one side noticeably more worn than the outer.

I'm still running the re050a's myself, after 17K miles there's still plenty of tread left. Enough so that it probably won't be til summer that new rubber is installed. I drive fast, corner aggressively, but don't accelerate hard or fast from a stop. As expected, rear tires show more wear than fronts for me.

 

Do yourself a favour and pick up a tread depth gauge for $3 and be able to check this for yourself in the future to make sure they're not feeding you BS to try and get you to buy new tires early.

 

My PSS only lasted ~10,000 miles before the belts started showing. Ran with -2 camber.

 

Since they are standard it splits the warranty by half i dealt with Michelin for a week and finally got them to cover more than initial 25% they ended up paying 80 percent

 

The warranty is split in half (on the back tires only) if you cannot rotate the tires from back to front (different sizes). I have the exact same tires, but haven't had them very long. What did you do to get them to cover 80% ?

 

Is your car lowered?

I had PSS and they lasted over 20K miles and my car was lowered on Tein S-Tech springs the whole time with no camber or toe kits. The rears should wear out a little faster but not by much. I would guess that your alignment is way off. When I replaced my tires last April, I got an alignment, a bad one and my tires lasted about 5000 miles. When I got the alignment corrected, my tires started wearing normally.

 

This is the reason why I got the PSS for my stock 19's hoping they would last me atleast twice as long as the RE050's. I have a summer and a half left on my lease (I use winters wheels during the cold months)
