Hey man you painted these yourself or had a shop do it? I've been thinking of using the duplicolor wheel paint but want a durable professional look. If you did it what did you use? If a shop did it how much was it and how long did it take?
If you prep your wheels well and use that quality clear coat you should get very good results (as long as you don't have a wife that gets too close to curbs, lol)
Randy, if you use a rattle can paint be sure to get a quality body-shop grade clear coat, the Dupont Acrylic Clear A-7480, Evercoat Cut-in-Clear, Spraymax 2k cut-in-clear are all top notch spray on clear coats that will do a much better job keeping your wheels looking good for a long time. The other cheap clear coats go on thin, don't dry to a hard shell and just don't have the same quality gloss finish.

Got a question for you guys. More of an opinion actually. So I have a black obsidian coupe and am looking to paint the wheels and calipers. I found a guy that will repair my curb rash, dip my wheels, and paint my calipers for a decent price. I'm going to do a matte anthracite gray wheel color and yellow caliper color with akebono decals. Thoughts? Think it will look good?

By chance, I last week did just that.
I used Plasti-dip Smoke on my stock wheels and they came out in a nice gunmetal grey. Sort of satin finish. I tetsted some flexi-dip glossifyer (Krylon) on a sample painted with black PD but it was too sticky and not particularly glossy. Might be incompatible and work better if I used PD glossifyer. (there is a warning on the can)
Anyway the cool thing about PD Smoke is I could control the shading, coat by coat to get the darkness I felt like. It was quite easy to do.
I cleaned the rims with a shop towel soaked in brake cleaner, then stuffed index cards under the rim bead, and spayed away. It helped to have a space heater blowing on the wheel between coats while I worked on the next one.

Sorry these are my winter wheels so I won't be mounting them for a couple of weeks yet. (Fingers Crossed)
