winter tire/newbie help please

this is the ad i found online:

Selling my 2008 Infiniti G37S OEM Rims with winter tires.
Rims are 19 inch OEM Alloys.

Tires are Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25V Tires
Two are 245/40R19 (Rear Tires)
Two are 225/40R19 (Front Tires)

These tires have been used for 3 winters.

**********

my question, and i've tried to search, is should i buy these for g37x sport coupe that i just picked up yesterday. will they fit, is there any issue with the brakes? is the TPMS the same?

and since they have been used three winters . . . how much do you think is left in them? thanks.

if they're from a G37 "S", then they would clear the big brakes. not sure if the TPMS were changed over the years, but i would think not.

can't answer that - did the owner have a 3 mile commute or 50 miles? drive like a little old lady or Vin Diesel on crack? you'd have to actually look at them, or get detailed pics with the dime-in-the-tread for an idea.

Tire sizes won't work w/ your X, they'll fit but the diameter is too far off front to back.
I'd run 245/40s on all four, the wheels are a 1/2" wider in back but running 245s all around will work fine, much better than the combo that you listed.
BTW, welcome to the site!

how does the width effect the diameter of the wheel? right now there are 225/50/19 on all four . . . yokohama advan. . . but from what i've read so far i thought the stock sport rims were 8.5 in front and 9 in the back? i'm just trying to figure the best strategy right now. i have the stock 19s but they are pretty scuffed up. so i was thinking of just putting winters on those and buying some fancy new wheels for spring. but if i can get i decent set of used rims with winters already on them i can get my current rims powder coated for the spring.

You stated~

Two are 245/40R19 (Rear Tires)
Two are 225/40R19 (Front Tires)
Those tires have have a diameter difference of 2.36%, having a variance under 1% is acceptable but much closer to zero is what is best.
Running 225/50/19s all around is better than having variance but you're running a pretty tall tire compared to OEM (about 4% taller) A 225/45 is about 1% off so that would be a better plan.

If you decide on those coupe 19s running those 245s that I mentioned or a 225/45 would be a better solution than the other sizes.

The date codes on tires are also important.
Tires more than four years old run a risk of blowouts or failure due to dry rot
I would not buy used tires.
Just remember your life depends on tires and brakes.
If you can't afford new tires perhaps you should buy a cheaper vehicle.

Just my $.02

thanks, forgot the regular S has different sizes front and rear. reading comprehension before coffee = no bueno.

off-topic: it would be nice if everyone would list their car info in their sig. there are so many variations of the G37, its hard to keep up: coupe/sedan/convertible, sport/non-sport/, older/newer, x/non-x, 6MT/5AT/7AT ...

Different width tyres but same 40 profile means your rolling radius is different fronts to rears.

Standard setup on mine is 225 - 45 on 19 rims on the front and 245 - 40 on 19 rims on the rear.

If you do the math 225 x 0.40 gives tyre height of 101.25mm - add on the 19" and overall rolling radius is 342.55mm. 245 x 0.45 gives 98mm on the rears add on the 19" gives 339.5 mm rolling radius - these are 0.96% different, and the traction control is set up for that.

If I put 225 x 45 and 245 x 45 on mine the TCS wouldn't like it !

However - and teach me something here - do you guys have the same profile front & rear on your cars from stock?

And my 2 pence worth (note - 2p from the UK, not 2c!) - as Telcoman said - your life is resting on this - it's not something you want to take risks with!

The traction control can handle more variables, but the OP here has an AWD, and when you approach a 1% variance the AWD system may have issues at speeds over 75mph. And if the smaller tire is in back that's even worse as the rear wears faster, this will make the variance increase over time.
