Advice on selling OEM wheels

I just purchased a set of 19" IPL wheels for my sedan so I'll be selling my OEM 18" sedan sport wheels (staggered). I'll be selling the wheels and tires together.

The IPL wheels don't have tires or TPMS sensors so I need tires and I need the sensors. I can either buy new sensors and then sync it to my car or swap out the sensors from my old wheels when I get new tires on the IPL wheels. I guess I would install non-TPMS valve stems in the old wheels to sell it in this scenario.

How do most people want to buy wheels? Do people expect the the wheels that are sold with tires to have TPMS sensors or not? What brings the most money?

I would say unless you need the money keep them. The hassle of selling them for maybe a few hundred dollars is not worth the time. You can always throw the OEM wheels back on when you sell the car and then sell the IPL wheels. If you you plan on keeping the car forever then I could see you wanting to sell them. If that's the case, and the tires are relativity new, I might go with buying TPMS so you can keep them paired. If the tires are more than half way worn you might be better reusing your TPMS with your new wheels and just selling the wheels out right. Good luck.

I would re use your tpms sensors. In my experience with selling rims most people will not pay the extra for the tpms sensors.

I'd try for a local sale, the hassle & cost of shipping, especially with tires is barely worth the effort IME.

I had to PAY to have the sensors removed from my wheels and put on the new wheels. Like Blnewt said. If you don't have the room try for a local sale or keep them.

Bummed to hear this, but not surprised. The G37S I just picked up has cheap new tires and I have no need for them or the factory rims. Well, I guess my 1st track day will now be a drift day...

It snows in Wisconsin. Throw some snow tires on those duckfeet.

However, if you do that, understand that the G supports pairing with only one set of Tire Pressure Sensors. That means synchronizing the sensors twice a year... assuming you swap rims before/after winter. Or if you care whether or not the TPMS light is on.

I always like having a "spare" set of wheels, especially if you have ****ty winters. I wouldn't go thru the hassle of trying to remove the old sensors, you can get some good deals on ebay actually which will be much easier and probably pay for themselves since you would have to pay someone to remove them out of your old wheels. If you can get $500-600 out of your 18"s then I would probably unload them, but for anything less I always figure to just hold onto them or like someone had mentioned throw some snow tires on them.

I have a fresh set of Blizzaks on the OEM Evo wheels that fit great and look better than the duck feet since I had them painted a metallic anthracite. I will see how many months I can go before I get annoyed by the TPMS light and transfer over the sensors. (I don't believe the Mitsubishi sensors can be programmed to the Infiniti)

Can I post the stock wheels and tires for sale or do I need a certain number of posts since I am a new member to this site?

My experience is that if you don't pair up the TPMS at the beginning of winter, then you'll just keep telling yourself winter will be over soon enough. Plus, it's a nice little present to yourself come Springtime, making that light go away by virtue of simply swapping your summer rims back on the car.

Agreed... the duckfeet are ugly. Few people will argue that opinion.

As for you creating a FS thread, I don't know. Try it, and you'll have your answer. Or email Newt and he'll surely inform.

I agree with you on running 2 sets of rims/tires, but just the summer set with the TPMS sensors. That is what I did with my 370Z.

Yes, what was Infiniti thinking when they styled these wheels? The style they used before these wheels that looked like tuning forks looked way better, in my eyes anyway.

Well, they're a more appealing design than the 17" non-sport rims.

But that's like saying brussel sprouts taste better than kale, when the truth is that without lots of butter, both taste like a freshly cut lawn.

Thanks guys. I do intend on keeping the car a long time and I don't really have a good place to store the wheels. Plus, I have fairly new summer tires on the wheels and I live in TN where it doesn't snow much. So I think I'll swap out the TPMS sensors for regular valve stems and sell the wheels + tires locally.

I still can't believe this guy sold me his IPL wheels so he could put Niche wheels on his car!

I'd rather not say.
