G37XS wheel width question

Im looking to put 18" G37X sport wheels to replace my current 17" on my 2013 G37X sedan. This is AWD so I'm assuming the wheels have to be a square set.

see pic

I want wider tires so I see there is a FRONT p/n 73716 which is 7.5"W and a REAR 73717 which is 8.5"W. Should I put 4 of the same width all around? or can I stagger the widths?.. as long as i put the same tires on?

If so, can I put the 8.5" in the FRONT AND REAR. Will there be enough clearance with the wider rims/tires in the front?

Im worried about taxing the AWD system.

Thanks
Chris

If you're buying these new so you can select the wheels I'd get 4 of the 8.5 rear wheels and run 245/45/18s all around. This would be a solid setup for your AWD.
If you want a staggered set to run all four of the same tires I'd opt for the coupe 19s, the stagger is only a 1/2" so running all four (245/40/19s) all around won't look off. The 1" stagger is a bit much on the sedan 18s and the 245s are a bit pinched on a 7.5" rim.

Do you think there will be any clearance issue with the 8.5" in the front especially on the back side with the control arms or brake assembly's ? I believe the stock rims are 7.5". Don't want run into any rub or clearance issues. The rears look like they have more clearance and should be OK with the wider rim.

I agree, Im looking to go with the wider tire all around where the 8.5" would be best for. (like a 235/45 R18 or 245/40 R19)

thanks

You won't have any clearance issues w/ the 18x8.5 wheels front & back, and the 245/45/18s is just about perfect compared to your OEM diameter so your speedometer won't be off. And like I mentioned, if you do go staggered but want to run the same four tires, the coupe 19s on 245/40/19s is the best option there, and again, you'll have no clearance issues.

Hi all. I got a line on a set of 18" G37S OEM Sport wheels off of a RWD sedan. They are staggered. 18 x 7.5 FRONTs, 18 X 8.5 REARS. If I set these up with 225/50-18s front and 245/45-18's rears would I be ok? I want to put them on my G37X AWD sedan.
I am mainly concerned with the AWD? Will it hurt the system? or cause any other issues? I think if it works, they would look great.

I did a comparison on the diameter of this set up and there is only a 0.2" difference in diameter between the front and rear. Speed differences are negligible

Those will work but I'd run the 225s in front and a 255/45/18 rear, this will give you a slightly larger rear (0.66% taller) and your rear tires wear faster so your diameter variance will get closer to zero over time. The 225/245 combo will be the same difference (0.66%) but you're already starting w/ a shorter rear tire so your variance will get worse over time.
HTHs

Thanks Brad.. So the AWD and VSC system will be OK with the difference? I don't want lights lighting up and the Infiniti service dept to give me an idiot lesson

Issues w/ the AWD system may occur w/ diameter variance over 1% at high speeds. Haven't heard any members w/ problems under 1%. Proper inflation and tire care is even more important when you go this route and your dealer could still make an issue of this. The manual states to keep all the same tires on AWD, this is because there's countless combinations that are wrong and will damage the AWD system, and only a few combos that will work. Much easier to just state "no staggered" then deal w/ combos that aren't compatible and have to deal w/ individual setups.

I am running 19x8.5 on my AWD system and lowered on swift with blown rear struts and I have no issues with rubbing even with 5 guys in the car.

I've been researching the same thing for replacing my 17" wheels on my g37x. I've found out you can put coupe sport wheels on which are 9" wide. 8.5s should be ok.

Do you want to sell your stock sport 18"rims ? I want to go stock 5 spokes ( see above post).

Get the same size all around then you can rotate front to back.

I agree. Get a square set.

I have a line on a set of the XS wheels. I like the original hyper silver finish
